Liberty Media, Terry McGuirk and company has mismanaged the process of re-signing Freeman. If they done it a year ago like EVERYONE believed they should, they’d have paid far less and looked like geniuses. Their focus on pinching pennies clouded their judgement, and should they not sign Freddie, make no mistake. They will face the wrath of Braves country. This mistake will not be easy to forgive and will cost them money. The see the 6 year contract, they put no value on having Freeman as a Braves ambassador for the rest of his life. And, that’s short sighted and sad, because having him attached to the franchise the rest of his life is priceless. Freeman is a baseball national treasure. He’s the reason people come to games, watch, and spend money. This is the problem with a corporate owner. They’d rather schedule focus groups about it then actually make a decision. Stop your hand wringing. Do the right thing for everybody. Pay Freddie!
