Hervey Bay - Swimming Lagoon or Safe swimming enclosure

I am a home owner and resident of Hervey Bay and believe due to the tidal nature of The Bay, a swimming lagoon would be an excellent addition for tourists and permanent residents. A great attraction and activitie for all ages. Not just small children.

I have a disability and although sometimes not visible, this lagoon would be great as it would be not far to walk, easy access, and a more calm environment

The huge variance of the water due to the tides, gives a definite need for an enclosed area like Townsville & other Qld coastal cities have. Added to that, the difficulty for those with special needs to access our beautiful salt water, makes it an easy decision to provide something. Then there is the issue of providing safety from sharks. It really is a "no brainer" .

Love the proposal for a beautiful lagoon style swimming enclosure to enhance the already beautiful Bay. Airline Beach and Cairns are good examples.

I think it is an amazing idea for everyone especially for for the people with a disability. They have a hard life as it is and I’m sure this is something that they would love and get a lot of benefit from being able to move in

Lorraine Lyne (Eli Waters, 2022-04-24)

It’s a great idea

Jackie Martorella (Takura , 2022-04-24)

I think this would be great for the area. You need to spend money to make money and this idea will add to Hervey Bay and help put this place in the map.
Yes it’s a amazing place already but let’s not stop. This will be money well spent in so many ways

Colin Sullivan (Pialba, 2022-04-24)

#252

It would be great for our community and kids

Sandro Stewart (Scarness, 2022-04-24)

We need a lagoon that is free to the public and accessible for all and not just on the school holidays. We can’t keep relying on whale season to bring in tourists when whale season lasts less than 6 months. We need tourists because with tourists we get jobs. Please use common sense.

Nicole Rudd (4655, 2022-04-24)

#272

This would make a great tourist attraction, great for families and bigger kids , and accessible for disabled people. Great idea

Hervey Bay is a tourist destination and needs this for families and people with disabilities. Will be safe from all things in the ocean.

Michelle Smith (Hervey Bay, 2022-04-24)

#281

I'm signing because I moved to Hervey Bay in 2017 & rarely I will go for a swim in the pools, because of the chlorine. I've been a lifesaver in my past & LOVE swimming in the ocean, have always used ocean pools. You can swim in them anytime of the day & feel safe. I would love to see one built here. Thank you

Colleen Willner (Hervey Bay, 2022-04-24)

#286

I’m signing because I’ve seen areas further north with enclosures for safety from stingers and sharks and I believe this would be a benefit to all. It would be safe for those with mobility issues, children and seniors. It would draw visitors and could add variety to the beautiful areas we already have.

Ann Wharton (Hervey Bay, 2022-04-24)

#288

Booth Nikki (Urangan, 2022-04-24)

I believe it will be a great addition to our beautiful foreshore. Also to have access to those with disabilities that cannot enjoy our beaches can enjoy the facilities which definitely be a attraction for them to enjoy.

Derek Baxter (Point Vernon , 2022-04-25)

#327

We spent two years in Mackay and one thing that Hervey Bay genuinely does not measure up to is the swimming facilities.
The pool here is dated and not user friendly. Take a look at other regional facilities and go one better.

Bethany Fairfull (Wondunna, 2022-04-25)

#334

I agree to this lagoon it would be so much more fun for all

Katie Yalouris (Hervey bay, 2022-04-25)

Karlee Burns (Hervey bay, 2022-04-25)

#355

I truly believe this is positively needed for all age groups, disabled, elderly and youth. A shark attack is just waiting to happen on the Esplanade beaches. If not, another aquatic centre out Dundowran Beach way.

Bev Hosking (Dundowran Beach, 2022-04-25)

#361

The Bay needs it. When the tide goes out the beach is NO fun. Would be an asset for locals & tourists

Janelle Jones (Hervey Bay, 2022-04-26)

Rebecca Holahan (Urraween, 2022-04-26)

I think it would be a fantastic infrastructure project that would further compliment tourist activities and draw cards and further provide affordable activities for local families.

Evan Fulton (Hervey Bay, 2022-04-26)

#377

I agree that the bay should have a safe swimming lagoon for all families

I would love to see this happen for safe swimming and hopefully this will attract more tourism.

Julie Cairns (Dundowran Beach, 2022-04-26)

Everywhere there is a beach should be a lagoon. Not only is it safer for younger kids but it’s also perfect for people with any sort of disability. Also for the elderly. Remember they all want to feel and swim in the ocean also.

Chris Barry (Brisbane , 2022-04-26)

#382

I think it’s a great idea!

Scott Garrett (Urangan , 2022-04-26)

#383

Our beaches are beautifully calm however twice this past year my nieces and nephews have seen a small shark, no bigger than a meter, come close up to the foreshore. This lagoon would provide safety for families.

Tanya Stevenson (Wondunna, 2022-04-26)
