As a PhD student, having a straight forward way to officially recognized certificate is essential for future endeavours.

Any hinder to this is detrimental both to personal development of the people involved as well as to the reputation of the university. Making this process straightforward seems to be the least the university can do after giving four years of work away to the university.

I'm signing because I believe the need for a more trustworthy degree certificate process. Complicating and endagering future studies and employement for students at Linköping University needs to be a priority. With the existing issues, I would hesitate to recommend studying at the university even though I am pleased with the education.

I feel it's very important to note that Bachelor and Master level graduates are likely to have never studied at a university outside of LiU, and thus have no other frame of reference what a degree *should* look like, so they most likely aren't aware of the problem until they are in the middle of a job application. Communication from LiU is shamefully bad here, and bordering on lying by omission.

Receiving a PDF instead of a proper diploma is both dismissive of the great efforts made to earn a degree, and also causes issues for international students who may have trouble having it recognized in their home country.

It is ridiculous to hand out ONLY a pdf degree after several years of studies at university level. It is flimsy, easily forged and cannot be taken seriously. I do not know how many trees and money the University plan to save doing this, but I think the attention should be directed elsewhere, because ONE fancy paper per graduate, as proof of their hard work, is money well spent, in my opinion.

Furthermore, the country I am interested in for future work is highly unlikely to accept a pdf copy of a MSc degree, lowering my prospects.
