Ban on leggings at SLHS

Please sign the following petition to stop the ban of leggings at SLHS.  The current handbook does NOT state that leggings are not allowed.  The school is currently writing a letter to all parents to inform them that they "meant" leggings when they were referring to the ban on spandex.  I feel that leggings have been worn at Show Low High School for years, at least 25 years when I attended SLHS.  I have spoke with the principal Mr. Adams about this subject and due to one teacher's personal interpratation of the handbook rule, my daughter was "dress coded" and sent to the office.  My daughter has been an office aide for the month she has been in her senior year and has wore leggings nearly every day since she started school.  She has been in front of the principal, dean of students, guidance counselors, and office staff and not ONE of them have mentioned she was in violation.   We have to take a stand as I know I am not the only parent that has spent countless dollars on leggings and wouldn't have done so IF they were against the rules in the handbook provided by SLHS and signed by the students and parents at the beginning of the year.   IF Show Low High School sees fit to ban them NEXT year, so be it...but parents and students should be warned in advance that it could happen BEFORE parents spend money and the child is humilated by being sent to the office in violation.  In all fairness, Mr. Adams stated that he would give parents a month leeway before completely banning the leggings.  However, I am sure I am like many parents that I do not have a second "clothes shopping" money tree sitting in my back yard.    Please sign this and be heard.  If I can get enough people to support and sign this petition, I will be filing it with Navajo County Courts so that it is binding and legal to present to the Show Low School Board.   The School Board meets the second Thursday of the month, September 12th.  This is goal to collect all signatures necessary by date. Thanks for your support in advance!
