the Embassy's Petition

  To Whom It May Concern,

this letter was written by a group of Iranian master’s students who have spent lots of time and made persistent efforts to receive unconditional admissions to leading German universities. Since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have not had the opportunity to obtain visa appointments from the German Embassy in Tehran, because of the circumstances that were not under our control. Many of us have already enrolled in universities and have not been yet notified by the Embassy whether it is possible for us to be granted our visas at the right time or not. Accordingly, we, Iranian master’s students, would like to inform you about how this matter is affecting our lives as well as our future careers. We sincerely, thus, request the German Embassy in Tehran to start master's students’ visa-interviews.

We have chosen Germany as our educational destination because it is one of the most prominent industrial and economic centers in the world and studying in such a country opens the window of progression in terms of education and career prospects to international students, including us.

As you are aware, a large number of the applicants interested in studying in Germany are students possessing admissions to master’s degree programs, who spent a great deal of time and money to acquire acceptance from the best German universities; However, due to this current delay, master’s students are facing lots of problems such as the expiration of their admissions and language certificates, and what concerns us, the Iranians students, specifically is the impact of the domestic economic crisis (inflation and daily depreciation of the Rial). Besides, although many of us paid tuition and contribution fees and underwent the insurance contract expenses, most of the universities warned us that we have to arrive in Germany before the examination period. This matter has posed a great deal of stress and pressure upon our shoulders. That is because, if the visa interviews are not resumed by the German Embassy in Tehran as soon as possible, not only cannot we arrive in Germany before our exams, but we also will lose the upcoming summer semester as well.

Regarding the visa process, The DAAD organization has dedicated its contribution only to the Ph.D. applicants with funded admissions. What is certain is that the frustrating situation and the aimlessness, from which the master’s students of Iran are suffering are as devastating and critical as those of Ph.D. students with scholarships. What we ask the German Embassy in Tehran is to accelerate the visa process for master’s students parallel to other groups, including Ph.D. applicants and students with funds. Since the quantity of student visa interviews has decreased, we are entitled to be a part of the list of urgent appointments system, as it was before the Pandemic. We hope that you perceive our concerns and facilitate the visa application process for the Iranian master's students.

One of the suggested solutions to speed up the appointment arranging process at the embassies could be the employment of online interviews. Apart from that, the students promise to observe all the necessary health protocols, while they enter the Embassy. Moreover, we are even ready to take negative Covid-19 tests (PCR) at the time of the interview and upon arrival in Germany.

In conclusion, we, the Iranian master’s students, profoundly plead for the resumption of master's students’ visa interviews, otherwise, we will miss our opportunities and admissions.

Thank you in advance for your assistance regarding this matter.

Faithfully yours, Iranian master’s students
