Withdraw unjust charges against activist in Alexandria.

Protest letter:

To the Egyptian Embassy in Stockholm,

We have been informed via Egyptian media, that lawyer and prominent Alexandria-based activist Mahinour Hassan El-Siyad (El-Massry) alongside with another seven activists, have been sentenced to two years in jail and a LE50,000 fine. Her so called crime according to media is declared being “demonstrating during the Khaled Said trial”.

Some of the undersigned had the opportunity of meeting Ms Mahinour Hassan El-Siyad here in Sweden and are now shocked by receiving this news as the right to protest is a perceived basic human right.

Referring to the Human Rights Council resolution 15/21 from October 2010, we strongly believe and demand that Hassan El-Siyad and the other seven should be freed from the charges immediately as she and her co-activists have done nothing other than exercising their basic rights.
