Update, I have been in touch with the Prinicipal Policy Officer again. Here is my letter

Dear Mr Chard,
Thank you for your letter about the parking situation on Deadman's Lane.  I am glad that there is a plan in place to deal with this problem.  However, I am seeking more information on the meaning of the phrase 'at the earliest opportunity'. The residents need something more definitie than this, especially as they have been hearing it since last summer to my knowledge.  Many have expressed concern that this is an accident waiting to happen. I myself have been shaken on encountering a large lorry approaching me and my bike in the single track area available for vehicles.  One resident has made the following comment

'I think that the parking in the whole estate is a huge problem, most of the houses having more cars than parking spaces. This creates bottlenecks making access very dificult for cars, not to mention larger vehicles( fireengines, ambulances, wastecolectors, derivery vans, etc...).
Council should regulate more strictly parking, and create some more parking space for residents only. For example the green area near the playground on Montague Drive should be tourned into parking for residents.  That green field is totally useless while people struggle with parking'

I would value your comments on this as well. I also attach a PDF of the online signatures and await your earliest response,

Update on the Deadman's Parking Problem

2016-12-26 11:27:54

I thought you might like to see my letter from the Principal Policy Officer at West Berks Council. Any comments? I found it wooly. Billy Drummond, Shadow Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport, has assured me this really is going to happen soon.  In the meantime I will be in regular communication with the Project Engineer, Alex Drysdale, with the intention of getting further updates and pressing your case.

My assessment of the situation is that West Berks Council has very limited resources to carry out this work, which is one of many tasks on a long list.

Please let me know about any inicidents at the site.

You can follow my activity at Twitter @DrMegThomas and Facebook @greenhamcouncillorLD or email me a meg@greenham.org.uk
