A year has passed since we petitioned the Council to open Bowring Park Changing Rooms Car Park which was rejected.

This means that we can now submit a new petition. I am aiming for over 1,000 signatories so please share this link to any social media outlets where it will be seen by Bowring Park Users.

Wellington Town Council - Tuesday 2 February at 7.00pm

2021-02-01 16:12:56

Please log into the Wellington Town Council Meeting on Facebook at 7.00pm on Tuesday 2 February. I will be addressing the Policy & Resources Committee to ask for their support in lobbying Telford & Wrekin Council to open the Herbert Avenue Car Park.

I would appreciate your support as although you can't speak at the meeting you can add your comments to the Facebook Page which all the Meeting attendees will see.

This Campaign will continue until T&W Council see sense and unlock the car park. I have also made a formal complaint to the Local Government Ombudsman about this so we'll see what happens.

Please comment on planning application

2020-12-20 01:44:02

A Planning Application has been submitted to Telford & Wrekin Council for the installation of portacabins for use by customers of the Cafe. This gives us an opportunity to comment on the Planning Application regarding the need for additional car parking facilities due to the increase in visitor numbers.

Please look at the website for Telford & Wrekin Council and search for Planning Applications. Insert the reference number TWC/2020/0956 and add your views under "Application Comments" - you will see a few already.

The campaign to open this car park continues. Whilst our Petition has been rejected without any right of appeal, planning legislation enables resolution of car parking issues to be made a condition of planning approval. Please comment accordingly on this planning application to add weight to our campaign to open the locked car park off Herbert Avenue.

Freedom of Information Request re Car Park Agreement

2020-09-03 10:50:52

I have had a response to my Freedom of Information Request for a Copy of the alleged Agreement between T&W Council and Neighbours in Herbert Avenue concerning the closure of the car park when the Changing Rooms are not in use.

The response is that Telford anhd Wrekin Council do not hold this information. In other words no such written Agreement exists.

I will continue to pursue an Appeal against our petition to open the car park being rejected.

Petition rejected

2020-08-28 11:16:51

Telford and Wrekin Council have rejected our petition to open the Changing Rooms Car Park despite the overwhelming number of residents in favour. I have appealed the decision and requested the option of addressing a meeeting of the Cabinet to overturn the decision. In the meantime I will escalate the media campaign to have the Car Park opened on a permanaent basis. I'll keep you all updated on progress. If you have any other ideas on how to further our campaign, please do not hesaitate to copntact me.
