Extension For Submissions on Eskdale Park

2022-09-03 03:21:26

Submissions on the draft reserve management plan for Eskdale Park have been extended to Wednesday, September 7, 2022 by 5 pm.

This is great news because it means there is still time to have your say on the draft RMP for Eskdale Park. This is your chance to speak up for the park and to let HDC know your opinion and thoughts on the draft reserve management plan.

When looking over the draft plan you will find many good things and some not so good things being proposed as part of the draft RMP.  Please look closely at the draft RMP especially Zone C, as this basically paves the way for a members only group to have a large car park and structures in the park and then to take recreation across the river on private land.

Here are the links to view the draft plan and the summary draft plan

Once you have looked over the draft plan write down your thoughts, opinions and comments about the draft plan. List what you like about the draft plan and what you don't like about it. Tell HDC what your vision is for the park. Then send this off to HDC as a submission by 5 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. It's that easy.

We have a basic easy to follow blank submission template available. If you would like one emailed to you message us here. Or at Friends of Eskdale Park on Facebook.

With time being short please consider emailing or hand delivering your submission to HDC. There is also an online form. But the online form is sort of limiting on how much you can write so if you have a lot to say just be aware of this.

Dear Eskdale Park Suporter

HDC has notified us of the final RMP workshop for Eskdale Park. This important final workshop will be held on Saturday, November 27 from 2 - 4 pm at Hukarere Girl's College.

Concepts and ideas developed from the upcoming workshop will be added to those ideas which were created during the first workshop. Together these concepts will help to create a plan for the park which will then be distributed to the wider community. So as you can imagine this final workshop is an important one for Eskdale Park.

As a Eskdale Park supporter this final workshop will be your chance to help create a lasting and protective Reserve Management Plan for the park. A plan that will ensure the special essence of the park is preserved for future generations and the community.

If you would like to attend the upcoming workshop you will need to register. Much the same as we did for the first workshop. This is because of COVID restrictions. You can register for the workshop by sending an email to HDC at the following email address.

Eskdale Park meeting with HDC

2021-11-01 05:42:47

Hi Everyone

A big thank you to all of you who attended the Eskdale Park working party with HDC held this past Saturday (October 30th).

We just wanted to give you a quick update on the working party meeting.

Basically we were divided into about 8 or 9  groups of 4 - 6 people in each group. We were asked to express our views on the following;

1. what we value about the park
2. constraints on using or use of the park
3. opportunities for the park in the future

Then after group discussions a representative from each group presented the thoughts and ideas from the group to everyone in attendance at the meeting.

The strong theme from what the individual groups expressed was in support of the park as it is, a natural green space. Plus there was a lot of talk about incorporating the horse paddocks into the park to make the park larger. Nearly every group expressed a desire to plant more trees and plants around that park. There were also a few groups who expressed interest in having some sort of designated parking, moving the children's play equipment out of the off-lead dog area, improving or removing the existing toilets and increasing picnic tables etc.

In addition to people from the community, there were several members from the HDC, FOLKL and some other government /community groups in attendance.

The meeting coordinator advised us that there would be another meeting in the near future to further discuss the reserve management plan (RMP) for Eskdale Park. The next meeting will be centered around putting our thoughts and ideas, as discussed at Saturday's meeting, into a practical workable plan for the park. In essence this will be the next step in completeling a RMP for the park. The next meeting will be a very important next step for the park and the RMP. So we will notify you as soon as we have any details so you can arrange to attend if you wish to. Or at least provide us your feedback, comments, ideas and thoughts for the park so we can take them with us at the next meeting. That way your voices will be heard by HDC.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. Thank you again for your support of Eskdale Park. We and the park appreciate you.

Thank you

Eskdale Park Workshop

2021-10-24 10:16:55
Hello Eskdale Park Supporter

You may be wondering what has been happening with Eskdale Park. Currently, the Hastings District Council is conducting a reserve management plan (RMP) for Eskdale Park. This means that they are drawing up a 10 year plan for the park. Earlier in the year Hastings District Council asked people to fill out a My Voice My Choice survey, this was the first step of the reserve management plan.

Well now the time has come for the second part of the reserve management plan. This being in the form of a Community Workshop for Eskdale Park. The purpose of the workshop is for people to work together for shared outcomes and solutions for the park, These outcomes will help to guide the reserve management plan for Eskdale Park.

The workshop is being held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 2-4 pm at Hukarere Girl's College.

Hastings District Council is requesting that you register your interest in attending the workshop. Being a supporter of Eskdale Park this is your opportunity to help create a reserve management plan that will protect the park for our community. We encourage you to register and then to come along to the workshop to give your opinions and ideas for the park to the council. Everyone has ideas on how to improve Eskdale Park and during the workshop we can talk about these ideas and hopefully collaborate on some of them. The workshop will also give the council and clear sense of how much people love Eskdale Park and the many families and people who want to see the park preserved.

Over the past several months we have seen first hand just how much support there is for Eskdale Park. By attending the workshop you can show your support for the park to the council.

To register for the workshop simply email the council at eskdalepark@hdc.govt.nz

Provide your name and advised them that you wish to attend the Eskdale Park workshop on October 30th.

As always if you have any questions please feel free to email us on saveeskdalepark@gmail.com

If you would like a copy of the flyer from Hastings District Council announcing the workshop sent to you, please let us know by email and we will send it to you.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the workshop. If for some reason, such as COVID alert levels, the workshop is postponed we will email you to advise as soon as possibe.

Sincerely

Friends of Eskdale Park

My Voice My Choice Survey

2021-04-22 08:04:43

Hi Everyone

Thank you for your support of Eskdale Park. The Reserve Management Plan process is continuing for the park. The first step of the process is the My Voice My Choice survey which has been running for some weeks now.  The survey ends tomorrow, Friday April 23rd. Which means that tomorrow is the last day to fill out a survey.

If you have not filled in a My Voice My Choice survey for the Eskdale Park please please please consider doing so. It only take a few minutes to complete the survey online. Just please be very careful of how you answer question 13 on the online form. As it is basically the HBMTBC conceptual drawing in a survey form. (So much for their plan/drawing being off the table as HDC and the Mayor has led us all to believe). Gee Whiz.

If you need help filling out the survey please reach out to us.  Our email address is saveeskdalepark@gmail.com

Here is the link for the My Voice My Choice survey form online. https://www.myvoicemychoice.co.nz/hdc/reserve-management-plans/eskdale-park/

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Together we can preserve Eskdale Park for all people for all time, the way Thomas Clark envisioned it to be.
