CSPNC Meeting

2013-09-07 00:12:07

Hi Guys:

I hope you don't mind these updates. If you feel you no longer wish to be updated on the progress please feel free to contact me and ask you have your email excluded from further updates. No hard feelings I promise!

So I just wanted to let you know that I did attend the Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council Meeting last night and it was very informative. I was able to present our concerns to the board and they were very nice and open to our grievances. In fact, they had done some research in anticipation of this topic and had learned that the results of two separate traffic studies done on the corner of 34th and Barbara found that a stop sign was unwarranted at this time. Obviously we disagree with that and the board agreed that we would like to see the studies in comparison to other intersections that have recently received stop signs to see what the criteria actually is and what is being studied .I was also informed that when a patrol car was assigned to ticket the area in an attempt to slow traffic something like 70 plus percent of tickets were given to local residents so perhaps the lawn signs will help remind our neighbors to take it easy. If we cant remember this in our own neighborhood that's a problem!

Bottom line is we at least got the topic added on to their list of issues to be taken to the Department of Transportation meeting which they will be setting up hopefully within the week. In the mean time we discussed the possibility of getting lawn signs as a visual reminder to people passing through to take note of their speed.

Overall it was a very interesting meeting. If you ever feel inclined to sit in on one please do so. If nothing more it is great to get to know some more of your neighbors and see that we are all on the same page when it comes to protecting our neighborhood.

Until next time,

Next step coming soon

Hi guys. First wanted to thank you all for taking the time to read and comment on the petition. Just so you know, I think the next step for me will be to contact the Department of Transportation and Joe Buscaino's office for help on this issue. In the meantime, any help I can get spreading the news about this petition and getting some more names on here would be nice. They dont have to be residents too! This effects the people that come and visit me and their kids and everyone I am constantly complaining to about it! I will keep you posted of any progress.

Thanks again!
