He has been honoured 6 time with the National Film Award for best male playback singer,25 Andhra Nandi Awards,6 Filmfare Awards and the NTR Nationsl award along with innumerable recognitions and citations .In 2001 he was honoured with the Padmashri, 2011 Padma Vibhushan and in 2016 Indian Fim personality of the year award.

His soulful singing has enthralled generations and he is most deserving of a Bharath Ratna.
