Canaryville residents say NO to a ZONING CHANGE at 4746 S. Union

Canaryville residents deserve better! That's why we are vehemently opposed to a zoning change request that would increase the number of apartments at 4746 S. Union from TWO to THREE apartment units.

The 11th Ward Alderman's office has a thick file on the countless public safety issues that 4746 S. Union and its renters have posed to our community over the years. It's also located on a block that has two other troubled rental properties.

If approved, this zoning change will increase the number of rentals that are saturating our neighborhood, which increases our chances of dealing with yet another landlord that could potentially rent to problem tenants who bring gangs, drugs and gang-related shootings to our very door steps. THIS HAS A RIPPLE EFFECT ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF FAMILIES THROUGHOUT CANARYVILLE.

Currently, the property owner is trying to sell 4746 S. Union. However, he ILLEGALLY created a third apartment in the basement and now cannot sell the property as a three-flat. To make a bigger profit on the sale of the property, he's asking the 11th Ward Alderman to approve a zoning change to convert the property from a two-flat (R3) to THREE apartments (R4).

As Canaryville homeowners and taxpayers, we care about our quality of life. We will not allow bad landlords to continue to rent to problem tenants in our community only to pad their own wallets at the expense of our safety.

CANARYVILLE RESIDENTS DESERVE BETTER. WE SAY NO TO A ZONING CHANGE AT 4746 S. UNION.
