Don’t open Masjids during lockdown!

We are Muslims who do not agree with attorney, Zehir Omar and his client who are calling for masjids to be open during lockdown. He does not speak for the greater Muslim community at large. We respect our President's call for social distancing. We live in this country and abide by its laws. Under the grave circumstances we are proud of the President's decision and understand that it could not have been easy. We understand that the only reason places of worship are closed right now is due to the pandemic. We do not feel our rights are violated and we know the restriction serves to protect us. We have many vulnerable members of our communities who need to be protected from the risk of infection. 

Muslims are innovative and have found ways to follow local prayers without entering the mosque. Many many Muslims will pray at home and do our bit to flatten the curve.
