East Rand Dog Fighting

There has been a marked increase in reported instances of illegal dog-fighting on the East Rand.

The Animal Protection Act 71 of 1962 specifically relates to the illegality of dog fighting in South Africa.
“The breeding, importing, moving, owning, and keeping of these dogs, and absolutely anything to do with fighting dogs, is illegal in this country.”

We the undersigned, petition the Ekurhuleni Metro, through by-law enforcement by the EMPD, and the SAPS to intensify their efforts in combating the market of cruelty that has found a home in our community, and to lend all possible resources to the NSPCA, in addressing dog fighting as a deplorable crime of extreme cruelty; warranting all seriousness and attention by respective and cooperating authorities.
