...Congress shall make NO LAW RESPECTING an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercise thereof... Now, Can anyone tell me a statute or ordinance that has been passed, (local, state, or federal) that requires anyone or everyone to pay tribute and/or respect of any kind, to the christian faith via this cross? NO, YOU CANNOT! The separation of Church and State [sic]appears nowhere in the U.S. Constitution. I strongly suggest all U.S. citizens read, learn, and understand the Constitution. It is our ignorance and lackadaisical approach to politics, and the defence of liberty and freedom, that have allowed the iron-fist of big government and the kook fringe that advocate it, to run roughshod over our rights. You've all heard the cliche' "make a stand", but rather, as christians, this is the time to kneel and pray. This is God's fight, the victory and glory belong to him.

The small, knee high cross is not intended to be a religious symbol. It is actually a historical heritage symbol in memorial to WWII veterans. That cross symbolizes sacrifice for others/freedom.

Might as well get rid of the crosses in Arlington Cemetery. This is just stupid.

If he really wants nothing to do with God, I'll be sure to keep my money in my pocket that says, In God We Trust. I'd hate to offend him any further.

I hope the DNR powers that be realize that this site is recognized as a memorial. Sounds like a case for the Alliance Defending Freedom lawers!

It's time for the minorities in America to understand that she is a Judeo-Christian country and that if they don't want to see a religious emblem, sign, or statue, just don't look.

I feel the ones that don't want the Cross on there are infringing on our rights to have it there...I think it's Ridiculous! This memorial is Beautiful and the sculptor put in a lot of work into it and a lot of heart as well...why should they not let us display it because of a cross...they don't have to look at it! Do they want all of the crosses taken up at Arlington..or how bout the One on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier...God Bless whoever got this Petition going!

Let's keep the cross on to signify the religious freedom this country was founded on. God bless America and God bless Union County!

Keep the cross. One person should not be allowed to take this away from an entire community. I'm sorry if it offends him, but he offends me and my beliefs. Maybe he should visit elsewhere if he doesn't like it.

This cross can be viewed as a Cross or a Grave Marker! The person that is complaining apparently was viewing it as a Cross....."religious" ...and many others viewing it as a grave marker "as in Arlington Cemetery".....
