I feel it's up to the zoo keeper's to make the call as they are the ones who are at risk to deal with such a beautiful ferocious animal.

#2: -  I agree.  It is a tragedy. I think the keeper would be horrified if Oz was put down.  Would not bring her back

You can't kill a tiger for being a tiger.

Not the tigers fault...he is only doing what comes naturally as a wild predatory animal. Therefore the people that care for these animals and supposedly "save" them must abide by the rules and not put themselves into a position of danger.

This is sad tragedy. Keeper was passionate about her career in zoos and loved her animals. Sadly she was in the enclosure and something went wrong. Killing the tiger won't bring her back. They are a beautiful animal and unfortunately the tiger resorted to basic instinct.

there was human error resulting in a tragedy. why should the tiger pay the price?

I like tigers. Fascinating creatures. Widely known fact, they have the power to kill people. Conscious decision making is something relatively unique to us as humans, so when we set these situations up around unknowing animals, we should face the consequences, not the animals we put there

Why condemn such a beautiful creature because a human didn't act accordingly.

you can't kill a tiger for acting like a tiger - unless you are a disgrace for a human being who in my opinion is worth less to this planet than a bucket of broken a$$holes.

This is a wild animal that is endangered and needs to be protected from being put down, we are trying to save this species and increase in their numbers for their future to be secure from extinction. From what we have heard from media, this animal was only doing what is natural instinct and protecting its female mate from any intruder. It is sad that someone has died from this but they would know ALL rules and regulations about being around wild animals when doing their degrees and all the pros and cons that go with working with wild animals.

lived in hamilton for years. grew up there. loved the zoo. the keeper wouldn't want to animal to die. they love the animals and realise the risk. working with wild animals is dangerous. so is living with human these days. it's not the animals fault though as is it their enclosure.

I signed the petition for the Tiger to be saved because it isn't this animals fault. For the few left in the wild they will die because of people being greedy. Zoo keepers are trained and they know being with these animals is a risk. Everybody knows that these beautiful animals have instincts to hunt and kill and we continue to risk our lives by being near them. It is like swimming in the ocean with sharks.. You are in their territory

This was a tragic event & I feel very sad for the keeper & her family but if she was mauled due to lack of appropriate safety precautions on the part of the zoo, it is the zoo that should be answerable. However If the keeper didn't observe the safety procedures that were in place then it is not a reasonable response to kill the tiger. This is an endangered species & a wild animal it was behaving as it could only be expected to.

The tiger is a wild animal it is not in it's natural environment and it is not the tigers fault for killing if safety precautions were not followed

Because I love tigers and people should be more cearfall with known dangerous animals

I was under the impression that zoo's were to help preserve and help the wildlife population not destroy it.

Because it's a caged animal who should have lived is life in the wild. A tiger is not a domesticated cat, therefore, unpreddictable so the caretakers are or should have been aware of the possibility of this kind of reaction... Very sad...
