I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THOSE WHO DONATED THEIR TIME AND HARD EARNED DOLLARS  TO THE TUG PENINSULA PROJECT . MY FATHER " MARTIN E. JOHNSON " WILL BE TURNING IN HIS GRAVE OVER THE CALLOUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOUR OF MARATHON'S MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL . SMALL TOWN AND SMALL MINDED PEOPLE .

The Town just received $200,000 from senior Government for Covid recovery and they are going to spend $35,000 to cut up a tug that could have served that very purpose!!!

The loss of this tug is a huge mistake, an irretrievable one. It's unfortunate there was not the will to collaborate on developing a cultural site that could grow and develop in future. To find a win-win solution, where people come together. This shortsighted action comes at a cost, far greater than the money spent to dismantle the boat.

No insight to revitalization. Rather pay themselves. Plebiscites on future large financial decisions before they remove the original townsite assets for good!

This petition is closed. Regretfully we were not able to save this historic tug. The Mayor and Council of Marathon has had her cut to pieces with a huge set of metal shears mounted on an excavator.
