A standard will not be a standard long if we dilute it. Keep our beloved dogs as pure as possible with a solid breed standard ...

I can think of no reason why the Standard of the German Shepherd Dog should be lowered to include white German Shepherds, long-coated German Shepherds, and to modify nose color. The proposed changes do not benefit the breed. I view them as a lowering of the bar.

If whites are allowed in and coats and nose color--that is changing the standard and IMO it puts the breed backward and we don't need that. There are enough BYBs/puppy mills as it is--we don't need more junk in the lines. Thank You.

The breed standard needs to remain the same. It validates the hard work being done by the fancy to adhere to to it. It is not necessary to reward faulty animals just to bring in more revenue.

I OPPOSE! I have spent years following the standard as a breeder and exhibitor. It is a slap in the face to those who dedicated a life time to better the breed, to let this bad decision to destroy all our hard work PLEASE RECONCIDER!

It's wrong to lower the standard for the German Shepherd. Adding white might lead to piebald or spotted dogs, adding nose color variations leads to dilute colors being accepted like blues and livers which carry defects like blue alopecia balding gene etc.

I do not see how these revisions would help the breed

There is nothing broken about the GSD standard, it requires no revision to preserve the breed.

If this Revision is adopted it will be the demise
of the German Shepherd breed as we know it.
The GSD standard is the most articulate standard of all the breed standards and is clear in its references, as to "undesirable traits or Faults"!!!!! must one say any more?

If the standard is changed, responsible breeders should start their own registry to protect the breed and the standard.

I see no logical reason for the standard to be changed. The elimination of long and soft coats as a fault of any kind is silly. Judges simply need to be educated to the fact that a coat is nothing but a simple fault whereas a fault of movement is a very serious fault. White is and has been a disqualification since before I started in this breed over 40 years ago and do not see how changing that is going to help our breed.

There is no reason to change the standard just because some people choose not to follow it. If they were truly fans of the German Shepherd Dog they would breed to the standard - not ask to change it!

As a AKC Judge, I feel our GSD standard is one of the most complete and explicitly written standard of any breed. I would not want to judge White GSD's or long-coated GSD's in my ring. The reason for these changes are not something I can support.

The standard need to stay the way that it is......it has worked for 100 years.....no need to change it now!!!

I see nothing wrong with our GSD standard. There is no reason to change it!

The standard is there for a reason. leave it alone. No dilutes, no white GSD. Leave it alone. Make the white GSD a separate branch off the breed is necessary but that's it.

I strongly oppose the addition of white shepherds as an acceptable color for the German Shepherd breed.

I am overwhelmed by the response to this petition. Many of you are so highly respected as breeders/exhibitors/judges/handlers. Many of you have served on the Board of Directors GSDCA. To have such an elite list is a great testimonial of your dedication to our wonderful breed.
