The Clifton is one of those unique pubs that has character, a long (and at times royal) history, and is the heart of the community. To let this much-loved establishment be re-developed into a private house would be a great loss for the neighbourhood and for our British culture in general.

Stunning architecture built to share with the public. The longest marble bar. Community has missed it and its Sunday lunches!!!

The Clifton is a lovely and historic pub. London needs these venues.

A great pub, in a virtual desert of good pubs.

A lovely traditional pub, it would be a shame to let go.

The Clifton Pub, with so much history and charm, is so loved by so many people both local and from far and wide. It provided a meeting place for so many, from cricket fans to teachers, parents, pub quiz enthusiasts, birthdays, engagement parties and suited these meetings due to it's friendly and warm environment. People are turning up in their dozens every day and can't believe they are finding it closed down. It's great to see everyone doing what they can to get it re-opened.

A complete loss to the area. The character of a wonderful place continues to erode.

SJW will be a lot 'poorer' without this great pub. It was a great place to come for an after work drink, Sunday roasts and the pub quiz.
I loved taking friends from London and abroad to the 'secret' pub.
Where else is there to go now?????
We must save the Clifton!

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments made. The more expensive residential parts of London are rapidly becoming social deserts with nothing happening in the evenings and at week-ends. Pubs are an important factor in giving an area character and the Clifton in St Johns Wood is a prime example. Not only a successful pub but a famous one too!

Please please please stop the Clifton being turned into Luxury flats or a hotel.

It would be a great shame if this much loved local pub was scrapped to make way for yet another high priced residential property which would be unlikely to benefit the community in any way. This area has very few ammenities compared with other London residential areas and this is a sign that the real eastate value for investment is greater than the capacity of local businesses to make enough to survive. But it is very short sighted for the planning authorities to allow this to go unchecked as soon the heart of the local area, the very thing that makes it attractive, will be lost for ever.

First made aware of the clifton by employees at abbey road studios approx 15 yrs ago. Still visited weekly up until closure. So much history, my favourite pub anywhere. Disgraceful it could no longer be a pub. Utterly disgraceful.

St John's Wood will be much poorer without it. NW8 is practically a deadzone for anything communal.

If this beautiful landmark of a pub is allowed to be turned into some mansion, it will show that Westminster Council's planning rules are a complete joke. Other people in listed buildings need to move heaven and earth for minor refurbs to their house, but this is okay??? Very sad.

A nice and beautiful pub that should remain like it is!! This building has a history, has it's place in St John's Wood. Hope we can do something! Also if you are looking for a reliable local minicab company you can try http://cabreviews.co.uk/st-johns-wood and choose only from the best taxi companies in London. It sure helped me. You can even leave a review or share your experience that you've had with any cab company, good or bad. Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
