I would like to make a comment regarding the new gentleman in charge of marketing. I believe his name is Nick. I first saw him at the Casino when a Taipans away game was shown and someone pointed him out to me as I wanted to get my lucky door prize ticket. How would anyone know who he is or what his role is? He looks just like any other male dressed in ordinary clothing. Where is his Taipans shirt in order to be recognised for his role, look the part and promote the brand? And now that I do know who he is he is the same on game nights! It's as though he doesn't want anyone to know and it's very disappointing and unprofessional.

We fully support this and are so glad it has come about. Just one thought about the new marketing chap (Nick??). When at games/functions he is never in anything with the Taipans logo so how are we meant to know who he is and how he is helping to promote the Club?

I have been a fan of Taipans since it started. However for the past recent years I have been lacked of interest due to number of factors. I believe that one of the factor is having a team as local community management does not inspire the players. I personally it should be privatized and have a strong key players "imports always have an incredible fan interests" of course they have to do the job! To me the American/African are born to be a basketballs. Two of my best friend George Butler (Marlins/Taipans) and Darnell Mee (Taipans) were the best by far players. We need a change and I second - Call for Change at Taipans. Thank you for reading my comment!

#5: -  Our Agenda is pretty simple. The outcome we are looking for is an early election of the Taipans Committee. When that is called anyone of the Foundation Members who wants to stand for a position can outline their plans for the future of the Club, and the Foundation members can vote.We will detail our plans to Foundation and Season Ticket members when the EGM is called.

Continual inability to deliver to the people of Cairns a team structure and win/ loss record to be proud of demands a full evaluation of all positions. This is a community team and as such we demand accountability

With 0 information I would sign this a million times because Denis Donaghy has proposed it....I do not think there is a more "taipans man" in the community. We have seen the taipans continually go downhill, and turn scorers into no-ones under current leadership. I do not doubt Aaron's Fearn ability to find young talent, but a GOOD employee knows when time is up, and that time has past. The season just gone is the first in the clubs history that I did not attend a game. I even went to the length of advising the reasons why I would not be attending another game under current structure and they care so much I did not get a reply. I do realise that if everyone took this stand the club would not exist, but hope there are just enough of us who do it to be noticed.

The coach, CEO, administration and committee need to be held accountable for three losing and under performaning seasons while begging for more money for "spend to the cap". Why is it so hard to hold an extraordinary gerneral meeting to see if there is a better way forward? What are they holding back from the community? This makes me even more concerned. Holding a meeting is not too much to ask, seeing that its a community owned team.

Unbelievable. I thought we were better than this.

I will not be a part of this pathetic whispering campaign and character assassinations of hard working people. The avalanche of half-truths, innuendo, ill-informed opinion and outright rubbish being spoken is breathtaking.
It’s a damn travesty and a slight upon everything a community organisation should stand for.

“Here sign this, things are terrible and need to change – but we’re not going to tell you what’s terrible and oh we won’t tell you what we’re going to change until we get out way” ha! Absolute rubbish.

If you can't see what is wrong - then the community doesn't want you to sign this petition

Go hang out with your Jehovahs Witness crew.... we are busy wanting a successful basketball program in Cairns

There is 82 signed petitions so far that suggest that you are the fools.... Taipans are dying a quick death - without intervention they won't even exist in the coming years...

Didn't Denis run from a sinking ship after the club lost $1Million while he was at the helm? Now he wants back in?

The community? you mean 91 of you... Or in actual fact 72 unique JO's.... Yep, small community that one. The petition for the US government to build a deathstar got more signatures in 10mins that this.

#19 What is the petition for

2014-04-07 01:04

Asking people to sign a petition for "change" is a little vague for my liking. All 100 of you should just go sign a bunch of blank cheques with that thinking haha

Signatures 87 - 90 same people, some with capitals, some without...

Also, Denis, last time you were at the helm, how well did the Taipans financial situation fare?

What concerns me is your unwillingness to lay out your plans but instead cause disharmony which is what we don't need Dennis. Time to unite behind the current board. You have had your chance before, what is new that you have to bring to the table ?

Dennis has nothing but the best interests for the Taipans and the community they play for. If it wasnt for him they would have never got into the league back in 99 and also would not have survived at the end of 2008 if it wasnt for his community model and passion for the club. He is the guy behind everything who doesnt take credit for anything. To the morons who thing he was involved with the collapse get you facts right.. He was the president of Cairns basketball at the time and had nothing to do with the ownership! Not many more people in Cairns respected more than Dennis!!Supporters should feel so lucky to have him back involved!!
