Mr. Torres' first program when he became Superintendant was to "Get a library card in every student's hands." It seems a contradiction that he would have supported such a cut. Then again, maybe that was his plan all along: to cut school libraries after making sure kids (and parents) could get what was needed at public libraries. Not everyone has easy access to their public libraries. Especially when considering how Library District boundries have been drawn. Example: Some Streamwood kids belong to the Elgin Library Dist. and, though the Gail Borden Library is fantastic, they do not have "unlimited" access to Streamwood's Poplar Creek Library - which is much closer to their own back yard.
