My family (Van Alstine and Loucks) were early settlers in Tryon/Montgomery County and lived there for years. I visited the Montgomery County Archives two years ago to research for DAR documentation. The staff was wonderful and very helpful and the collection is extensive. What a shame if reductions are made in personnel or in operations when the benefits are to so many people. This resource is a Montgomery County genealogical treasure that attracts visitors to your county.
