I see the focus on literacy in my son's school assignements. Why, then, when so much research shows that librarians in schools help improve literacy scores, did we take them away? The simple fact is, it's hard for teachers to get our children literate when they have 35+ students with access to the library once every two weeks. My son has to do a report on King Arthur and I had to take him to the public library because he doesn't go to the school one often enough to get the resources he needs. Please- listen to the parents this time and bring back the librarians!
