GROSS INCOMPETENCE OF THE CAC, NIGERIA UNDER THE CURRENT REGISTRAR-GENERAL

Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission under its present Registrar-General, Alhaji Garba Abubakar has displayed an unprecedented level of incompetence. The achievements of the past Registrar-Generals have been thrown to the dust-bin by the present one who has taken the CAC more than a decade behind. Rather than making positive policies that will move the CAC forward, he daily churns out draconian policies that drastically reduce rather than add value to service delivery at the CAC. It now takes months to conduct due diligent searches at the CAC registry making it difficult for banks and their customers to transact business; this is not talking about the prohibitive amount for such searches. The present policy of consent of the Registrar-General for the approval of names under Part C is not only contrary to the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act but against all known principles of logic. The "Ease-of-Doing-Business" policy of the Federal Government has been thrown to the dust-bin of history under the present Registrar-General. Let the authorities concerned know and do something about the unprecedented display of incompetence by Alhaji Abubakar least he leads the CAC to an unrevivable collapse.
