The closing date given by the prospectors to try and stop their actions is 12 September '23!

WE BORDER THE MARAKELE NATIONAL PARK.
"The Kransberg region shares a border with the Marakele National Park. The tourism potential to the region, will be stunted by the defacing activities of mining."

WE HAVE A WIDE RANGE OF BIODIVERSITY.
"The region is an immense storehouse of biological diversity. The area between Bakers pass in
the east and Rankins pass in the west is classified as a biosphere with irreplaceable status. This area was
atapulted with the remainder of the Waterberg Biosphere to the status of an International Biosphere Reserve which translates into massive international support if the ecological balance
of the area is threatened."

A LARGE COLONY OF THE CAPE VULTURES NESTS IN THE KRANSBERG.
"Eight hundred and eighty-seven bird species have been spotted and Kransberg hosts one of the largest colonies of Cape vultures which nests in
the cliffs meters of the proposed prospecting site."

THE KRANSBERG FEEDS LOWER LAYING FARMLAND WATER.
"Kransberg is
the highest point in the Waterberg range and forms an important natural basin for ground water
for the lower lying farmland."

THE DANGERS OF MINING:
Mines are highly damaging to the
ecosystems surrounding them and can cause loss of biodiversity, or the contamination of soil, groundwater, and surface water by chemicals emitted from the mining processes. These processes also affect the atmosphere through carbon emissions which contributes to climate change. Mining waste is harmful to the
health of people and wildlife if they are
released into nearby streams.

An explanation of all the damaging effects that the minerals/metals, applied for prospecting rights, can have:

VANADIUM mining can cause potential harmful effects on ecological systems and lead to animal poisoning and human disease.
CHROME mining can contaminate the air, soils and surface water.
COBALT mining devastates landscapes and pollutes water because of the dumping of deadly chemical's toxin.
IRON mining is highly energy intensive and causes air pollution and water pollution as heavy metals and acid drains from the mines.
MANGANESE mining significantly pollutes water, sediments and soils.
NICKLE mining pollutes water and destroys ecosystems.
PMG's mining includes high electricity consumption and CO2 emissions.
TIN mining releases radioactive minerals into the environment, and causes soil degradation and loss of soil nutrients.
