India 'NEEDS' Lockdown
An open letter to the Prime minister of our country… ‘Jan ki Mann ki Baat’ I am the youth of this nation, I am being told each day to keep my patience since the last year when it all started. But slowly, I feel like I am losing it all. Maybe, it’s something with my generation but it is what is. Seeing people leaving our sides, all of a sudden makes my heart break. You have to listen to my urge because this….isn’t my story alone.
Last year when there were apt arrangements for the treatment, our economy went down. Comments were made. People do whatsoever, but the fact is that it saved lives in our nation. We were still a little bit better off. This time, when the second wave hit with double the exertion, people started being more casual. Cases started rising inevitably. But this time, there was no lockdown. So, people continued going out and spreading it to the level that the death tolls increased like high tides. Doctors say that we need to be mentally positive and strong but you tell me, how can I be when my intuitions are negative? How can I when I know that it is spreading each day and the numbers aren’t going down? How can I when I am losing my people even after getting them vaccinated? How can I when I know that even after your speeches, there is no apt facilities in the states?
The hospitals are denying entries. The labs denying testing to keep the stats low, the doctors being advised by state ministers to report less deaths under Covid 19 category. Shortage of oxygen and medicines. People yet not understanding the severity of the situation. I don’t know a lot, but for sure, I know that the economy COULD be revived but people once gone…would never come back. I see people losing faith in the system, losing faith in you, god and themselves! Lockdown is the only way to stop people stepping out and spreading the virus like a wildfire.
Lockdown is THE ONLY WAY LEFT.
I need you to pay attention because its not just me alone. I am the voice of the people in lakhs who wait outside of the hospitals and inside their homes for the glimpse of their beloved, the voice of the people who run errands helplessly without a single hint of hope yet trying their best and breaking down finally, the voice of the people who wake up in the morning with the pang in their chest full of fear.
I am the voice of India.
The opposition will keep on making comments for whatever you do. But finally it’s YOU who govern the nation. It’s YOU who can change our fate. It’s YOU upon whom OUR future depend.
An Indian youth.
