Justice for 2 Kimberly Flying Squad Officer's Killed

PETITION AGAINST THE GRANTING OF BAIL FOR THE SUSPECT ARRESTED

FOR THE KILLING OF 2 KIMBERLY FLYING SQUAD OFFICERS

We are the Northern Cape Youth Crime Prevention Desk, under the leadership of

Manwilhe Qetywa and his deputy, Thabang Mocgwale and we are making this petition

to appeal to the National Prosecuting Authority, to not grant the bail application of the 38

year old suspect, that has been arrested in connection of the senseless killing of 2

members of the Kimberly Flying Squad.

We, the undersigned, appeal for the bail application to be denied for the suspect who

was arrested yesterday the 22th of August 2023, for the alleged murder of 2 police

officials. We kindly ask for the support of our fellow country women and men, to make

sure that this suspect is not granted bail.

It is alleged that a 38 year old was arrested for shooting and killing a male and female

police officer of the Kimberly Flying Squad on Tuesday, 22 August. The two police

officials, a sergeant and a constable, were following up on information about a car that

was allegedly stolen and enroute from Bloemfontein, said Brigadier Mashay

Gamieldien, police spokesperson. She said the vehicle was seen in Kimberly and the 2

members reacted when they spotted the vehicle. The officers gave chase and followed

the vehicle which drove at a high speed into the Transnet yard and crashed. The

suspect fled the scene on foot. The members gave chase and were fired upon, which

led to their fatal shooting.

We are appealing to the entire country, the Republic of South Africa, and her citizens,

and all stakeholders affected directly and indirectly by this senseless killing of the 2

police officers. Please sign this petition and ensure that the accused is not granted bail.

He deserves to face the full might of the law, and if found guilty, for the National

Prosecuting Authority to impose the maximum applicable sentence.
