Members of N.A.G.E. Units 1 & 6

Dear Representatives of N.A.G.E. Units 1 & 6:

We, the undersigned members of N.A.G.E. Units 1 & 6, are aware of an existing letter that was sent out only to Unit 3 members informing them of a pay raise in the vicinity of 4.5% and 5% effective January 1, 2011.

As hard working, paying members of the same union we strongly feel that all members of this union should have been treated and represented in the same manner. With all the recent sacrifices we have been forced to make during these hard economic times how a pay raise could be negotiated for Unit 3 but not for Units 1 & 6 is unconceivable to us.

It has been over a year since the Mass Pike and Mass Highway, as well other agencies, has been combined to create the MA D.O.T.  When will we, Mass Highway employees, be equally compensated for doing the same jobs under the same agency? We, the members, would like a complete explanation of where these negotiations stand. We also want to be fully represented by N.A.G.E, even if it takes a law suit or mediator to get us a fair and equal pay rate.

What is equally troublesome to us is how this happened so quietly and behind closed doors. We could not manage to find a single posting regarding this raise on the NA.G.E. Website.  Obviously, for a pay increase to occur on January 1, 2011 this had to be in the works for some time.

We, as equal paying members of N.A.G.E. Units 1 & 6, hereby fully expect our representatives will get working immediately to ensure Units 1 & 6 members are treated in the same manner as Unit 3 members with a pay raise in the vicinity of 4.5% and 5% as soon as possible. We also demand to be kept fully informed via the N.A.G.E. website or stewards of the progress that is being made in securing this increase.

The undersigned members of Units 1 & 6,
