Nduli residents feel they have been overlooked in the allocation of houses, demands the Witzenberg Municipality to STOP the allocation of houses in Vredebes

As the residents of the Nduli Community in Ceres we hereby submit this petition demanding Witzenberg Municipality to stop the allocation of the 150 (ABT) Houses in Vredebes and adhere to the Council resolution of the 26th of March 2014, the Witzenberg Housing Policy and review the way beneficiaries were selected (Beneficiaries Selection Criteria) to get houses at the Vredebes Housing
project which began about two months ago, we allege the selection process extremely biased, dishonest and discriminatory.

On the 13th and 14th of March 2024 our ward Councilors from Ward 1 & 12 and other PR Councilors called meetings with us to report on the Vredebes Housing project and in those meetings we learned the beneficiaries selection process was unfair and we have been overlooked in the allocation of the Houses in Vredebes and according to our Councilors, they were excluded from the processes as people who represent us in Council and have oversight responsibility on municipal matters, and the selection criteria of beneficiaries for the allocation of the 150 (ABT) Houses in Vredebes was never approved by the Housing portfolio committee.

No active beneficiary committee members.

The undersigned residents of Nduli, demands the Witzenberg municipality to immediately stop the
allocation of the 150 (ABT) houses in Vredebes, we request an urgent meeting with the Housing Portfolio, Executive Mayor, The Speaker and the Heard of administration (MM) within 7 days to discuss this petition and collectively work together with the 5 beneficiary committee members we nominated in our meeting on Sunday the 17th of March 2024 and avoid what transpired during the 2018 Housing Protest with the allocation of the houses during the 1st phase of the Vredebes Housing project.
