Norton Home Estates Community opposed to excessive noise

We, the undersigned residents, farmers, and concerned citizens of Norton Home Estates, hereby petition against the ongoing noise pollution of Hestony Transport's trucking yard at 80 Thomas Road, within our agricultural area.

Background: Our community is renowned for its rich agricultural heritage, characterized by fertile lands, family farms/plots, and owner driven home businesses. This community has worked tirelessly to improve the environment for everyone sharing the area from improving security to improving the value of their properties, contributing not only to the local economy but also to the cultural fabric of our region.

Concerns: The operational noise of the trucking yard poses significant threats to our way of life and the sustainability of our area due to the incessant rumble of diesel engines and the constant comings and goings of trucks that disrupt the peace and tranquility that define our rural landscape, impacting the quality of life for residents and wildlife alike. The following are also concerns in the community:

  1. Traffic Congestion: The influx of heavy trucks have lead to increased traffic congestion on our rural roads, jeopardizing the safety of motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

  2. Air Quality Degradation: Diesel emissions from trucks pose a significant threat to air quality, potentially exacerbating respiratory issues and compromising the health and well-being of our community members.

  3. Environmental Impact: The construction and operation of a trucking yard within our agricultural area leads to the destruction of valuable farmland, wetlands, and wildlife habitats, irreversibly altering the delicate balance of our natural environment.

Call to Action: We urge local authorities to heed our concerns and enforce regulations upon the operations of the trucking yard in favor of better practices that are compatible with our agricultural zoning. We call upon elected officials, planning committees, and regulatory bodies to prioritize the long-term sustainability of our community over short-term economic gains.

Conclusion: In signing this petition, we affirm our commitment to preserving the agricultural character of our community and safeguarding the value of our properties and investments. Together, let us stand for a healthier community.Trucking_yard.png
