Objection to cell phone tower

INGP1028 (INVICTA)

We as homeowners in the Beyers Park residential area, vehemently object against the erection of a 5G cell phone tower at ERF 785, 2 Franschoek Str, Beyers Park, Extension 13.

We are concerned about research that attribute health risks to cell phone masts. There is no conclusive proof that cell phone masts do not pose a health risk. There is however plenty research that indicate that cell phone masts do pose a health risk.

Based on information from various realtor organisations, both in South Africa and also in other countries, we know that the erection of a cell phone mast in a residential area will immediately devaluate property prices in the direct vicinity of the mast by between 15% to 20%.

With two broadband providers that had already supplied fibre to home connectivity to the neighbourhood, there is no additional benefit to the community to have a 5g cell phone mast erected for the sole purpose of providing 5g broadband access.

We demand that the application to erect a cell phone mast in a zone 1 residential area, which is where we live and raise our families, be denied. Failing such steps, we as a community, reserve the right to institute further action against both the City of Ekurhuleni as well as the service provider, including under (but not limited to) Section 33 of the National Environmental Management Act as referred to above; and the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act 3 of 200 as amended.
