PETITION TO MEC FOR ROADS AND TRANSPORT, TO ESTABLISH A FOUR-WAY STOP AND INSTALL RUMBLE STRIPS ON PROVINCIAL ROAD BETWEEN BAPSFONTEIN TO PRETORIA AT THE ROAD VENTER CENTRE ROAD CROSSING

We the residents of Ward 25 would like to request the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport to establish a four-way stop street with rumble strips on the Provincial Road between Bapsfontein to Pretoria at the Road Venter Centre Road Crossing. The road is on the R50, also known as Delmas Road at Magic Road and Benoni Ave Road Crossing. The speed limit on this stretch of road is 80 k/h. When crossing on Van Magic Ave to Pretoria or Delmas and when crossing over to Benoni Road, one must cross into traffic approaching 80 km/h. This road is also very dangerous and has claimed many lives due to the danger in the crossing. The community has out of their own and on their own cost installed a four- way stop street on this crossing after a fatal accident claimed numerous lives. The stop signs were however removed with total disregard for the safety and lives of the residents in the area. The main road before this stop street should also be fitted with Rumble strips to improve road safety and reduce accidents.  

We the residents of Ward 25 herewith petition the MEC for Roads and Transport, Ms. Kedibone Diale Tlabela, to establish a four-way stop on the Provincial Road between Bapsfontein to Pretoria at the Road Venter Centre Road Crossing and install rumble strips to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents on the road.
