PETITION TO PRIORITISE THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE COLLAPSING WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN BEDFORDVIEW

Much of the water infrastructure in Bedfordview is over 50 years old and in dire need of maintenance and repair. The Water Department does not have the necessary staff, equipment, vehicles, and materials to deal with the worsening crisis of water leaks and burst pipes in the area.

We, the residents of Bedfordview, therefore call on the MMC of Water, Sanitation and Energy, Cllr. Leshaka Manamela, to prioritize the repair and maintenance of water infrastructure in Bedfordview by ensuring that the Water Department is adequately equipped with staff, vehicles, resources and tools to perform their duties as required per the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Service Level Standards.

Bedfordview residents are constant and reliable ratepayers. As such, we are, at the very least, deserving of this basic service.
