Restore the Wynberg Youth Centre: Reclaiming Our Community Space

Issues at Hand:

Illegal Occupation: The Centre has become an indoor squatter camp, attracting individuals who disregard rules and regulations.

Health and Safety Neglect: Fire escape doors are bricked shut, posing a serious risk in emergencies.

Environmental Impact: Public urination, waste dumping, and littering contaminate the property and neighboring areas. 

Property Value Decline: The deteriorating state affects property values and unfairly burdens law-abiding taxpayers.

Community Disruption: Noise, suspicious activity, and unwanted characters impact the entire Wynberg community.

Safety: The safety of the neighborhood is dissipating due to many unwanted, suspicious people and general increase in loitering. Kids can't play outside and individuals in the immediate surrounds have their safety compromised. 

Drugs being peddled and dagga is being openly smoked by occupiers.

Drinking sessions are held daily and most weekends drunkards are in and out, into the early hours of the morning, under the cover of darkness.

More and more people move in, as and when they please.

Immediate Action:

We call upon local authorities to address the situation promptly. Enforce Zoning Regulations: Ensure the Centre is used as intended—recreation and youth development.

Legal Accountability: Hold responsible parties accountable for neglect and violations.
