Save Our Parks

Frank Marret Park and Wetland Area

Did you know the Ekurhuleni Metro want to develop this green belt for mix use housing with an estimated 250+ units!

A few years ago the Metro considered the proposed areas for a clinic and offices for the Department of Environmental Affairs, which was rejected on the basis that the Roads Department indicated that they will not support development due to the already congested roads in the area.

Furthermore after the Metro investigated the matter they determined that the ground area was unsuitable for development due to ground water issues in the area.

Years later the traffic concerns and the ground water issues still remain. The Park will be removed and yet another historical site in the town will fall by the wayside.

Our children need parks in which to play and our wetlands deserve our protection! In addition, the park has been a source of recreation to the elderly.

We are demanding that the Metro:
Protects and develops the Frank Marret Park;
Protects our wetland;
Protects the 115 year old Oak; and
Resists in strangling our roads any further which are already over congested.
