Save the CNA

As students who have put in a lot of time, effort, studying, and money into our dreams and goals of obtaining careers in the Medical field, we have the right to stand up for what we actually signed up for. Recently the Georgia State Board of Education decided to revamp the standards for the clinical program. The county was given the option of several different pathway courses-- one being "Thereputic Patient Care Fundamentals," which includes the CNA certification as the end of pathway assessment. Misimformed about what the students really desired, the county chose "Allied Health and Medicine" instead, which does not include the CNA training and certification. As students, we have put a lot of dedication into getting into the Clinical program for this exact reason-- to become CNA certified. We have studied long hours and completed a full course of Intro to Healthcare in order to have this opportunity. Now it has been taken from us. Too many students have already paid money and spent hours studying for the Board of Education to announce, three weeks into the school year, that the CNA training and certification is no longer available. This is something that needs attention. With the CNA certification, students are more likely to be hired immediately after high school which, further, would allow students to pay for medical school.

THE CNA CERTIFICATION IS A HUGE STEPPING STONE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO PURSUE THE MEDICAL FIELD!

Please sign this petition to show your concern and desire for the "Theraputic Patient Care Fundamentals" course to be reinstated.
