Why the injustice with the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation in COVID 19 Vaccination. Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation is getting 50 % less supply of COVID-19 vaccines. The citizens above 45 years of age have to wait in long queues to get vaccinated since many days. Those who have received the first dose of the vaccine before 60 days should have received the second dose on priority. The health officers are asking them to register themselves online, but most of them are facing issues in online registration. Health officers have been telling the citizens of 45+ age group that someone from their Household should stand in the queue and book slot for them a night before. Should we risk the safety of the family members who would stand in the queue on our behalf. Private Hospitals were given a permission to provide vaccines at the rate of Rs. 250 per dose, why was that taken back? The population of Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation is roughly the same as that of Mira-Bhayndar Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Comparison of the no. Of vaccines given by these Municipal Corporations on May 4 would make it clear that Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation has received less number of vaccines. Before May 4, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation received 1,02,992 doses of COVID-19 vaccines over a period of 1 month. Whereas, the Mira-Bhayndar Municipal Corporation has given 1,37,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine during the same period. This comes out to be 44% of the population in 45+ age group. Mira-Bhayndar Municipal Corporation received 35000 more number of doses of vaccines than Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has vaccinated 1, 72,000 citizens. This comes out to be 38% of 45+ age group population. Both the Mira-Bhayndar Municipal Corporation and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation have received their share of vaccine doses. Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation should have received 1,70,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses. We request you to approve and provide an additional supply of vaccines to Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation retroactively.
