Weston Fire Station Closure. Weston N.S.W Australia

Comments

#204

There is a need for this station, I think it is disgusting that a closure is being considered giving all the fire we have had this summer we need all the stations we have here to protect us all.

(Heddon Greta , 2017-01-13)

#205

it's important

(New South Wales, 2017-01-13)

#206

I live in the area and we are surrounded by bush and constantly battle bush fires every summer. We cannot afford to lose one sing Fire Station as they save our lives and our property year after year.

(Kurri Kurri, 2017-01-13)

#210

The area needs a local fire station

(Abermain , 2017-01-13)

#212

Have family that works there

(Mayfield , 2017-01-14)

#213

I believe the government should be opening more stations not closing them down.

(Speers Point, 2017-01-14)

#217

Thus fire station help save lots of homes in Kurri area very benefit for area

(Kurri kurri, 2017-01-14)

#222

I used to be a long time resident of weston and this community deserves to have their fire station remain open. In the last few months there have been some devastating fires in the area that could have taken peoples homes and even lives, if it wasn't for the men and women of this station out doing what they do to save their community.

(Kurri Kurri, 2017-01-14)

#223

Im a resident of Weston and if they close the Weston fire house and mine or one of the locals be it resident or business goes up in flames regardless of whether a life is lost or not and the response slower than if it was still Open then i believe the government have alot to answer for

(Weston NSW, 2017-01-14)

#227

I grew up in Weston and have watched the fire brigade help out with numous fires.. by getting rid of the station you are putting lives and the community at risk.

(Brisbane, 2017-01-14)

#231

There is too much down sizing leaving growing communities without necessary infrastructure. This means more pressure on the resources that remain.

(Aberdare , 2017-01-14)

#232

It needs to stay opened

(Kurri kurri , 2017-01-14)

#234

My partner is in our local brigade and I understand just how important it is to have more than less when it comes to brigades the less stations we have the higher the rick to the community losing property or even lives

(Millfield, 2017-01-14)

#235

It is needed in this community

(Weston, 2017-01-14)

#236

We need to keep Weston fire house

(Argenton, 2017-01-14)

#237

I live in the area

(Cessnock, 2017-01-14)

#243

I'm signing this because without the Weston fire station there would be less firefighters to help with the fires that flare up around the hunter region. Without this fire station more people will be a risk of losing their homes and I believe that this station in particular could help make a difference.

(Aberdare , 2017-01-14)

#246

I live in Weston and it's a disgrace to think that it will close

(Weston , 2017-01-14)

#247

We are surrounded by bush - it would be disastrous to close this station.

(Richmond Vale , 2017-01-14)

#252

I live in Weston and I believe we need the fire station

(Weston, 2017-01-14)

#255

There is lots of fires in Weston and they do a marvellous job and believe that it takes less firies with the new tankers that when they go to Abermain they will lose their jobs and they don't deserve it , it's just the government trying to cut costs seriously people's lives are at risk by closing down Weston station as it will take longer for either Kurri or Abermain to reach them

(Kurri Kurri , 2017-01-15)

#256

This is my home town. I remember when No.497 station in Swanson st was built back in the 70's. To have such a resourceful service taken away from the heart of Weston will kill the town and those in it. As the old saying goes...." just because you could, doesn't mean you should". Bottom line is, it's not about the up-keep or finances in maintaining the station or rostered firemen....it's a matter of lives and property being saved. The time delay in response from a neighboring town will have grave consequences! Ignoring the fact that lives/property are at a greater risk if Weston Fire Station were to re-locate, will evidently cost the "powers to be" more in legal ramifications if lives/property are lost in the future if this ridiculous decision gets approval.

(Weston, 2017-01-15)

#257

There is to many fires in the area to get rid of the staton

(Heddon Greta, 2017-01-15)

#259

I was born and grew up there. It is a landmark!

(Brisbane, 2017-01-15)

#264

weston needs this firestation there have been many fires in this little suburb lit by children heat etc the creek near by goes up in flames quiet regulary this firestation is a need

(windale nsw, 2017-01-17)

#265

It's detrimental .

(Weston, 2017-01-17)

#269

I am a local and believe this service is very important to our community. Especially relevant to recent events

(Cessnock, 2017-01-18)

#272

The township of Weston and it's neighbouring townships are surrounded by extensive bush land and the events of 18/91/2017 clearly show how important it is to keep the fire station operational.

(Aberglasslyn, 2017-01-18)

#273

They are a vital organization for a small country town and we need them

(Fern bay, 2017-01-18)

#274

I live in this town and can't tell you the amount of call outs they have had (way to many to count) as is the number of properties and people they have saved.

(Weston , 2017-01-18)

#276

We need all that we can get. We may not have fires every day but when we do have them, they tend to be large, like the fires of late and the closer the station is the better for the area.

(Bellbird, 2017-01-18)

#278

Almost 3 years ago we had the Pelaw Main fires last year we had the Neath fires that came up close to Kurri and today we had the Luxford/Heddon Greta/Kurri fire. We need units to be able to get out to these areas quickly. Bushes surrounds these suburbs, these are an emergency response that we need. We live in the bush.

(Pelaw Main, 2017-01-18)

#281

Weston still needs a fire station

(Cessnock, 2017-01-18)

#283

I have relatives that live in Weston and the recent fires show that at any time the residents can come under threat and need the fire brigade services to help them in dangerous situations.

(Newcastle, 2017-01-18)

#284

My Daughter and family live there and would like to think if there is a fire they will be safe.

(Cardiff, 2017-01-18)

#285

We need as many fire stations as possible, especially in the hot period.

(Kurri kurri, 2017-01-18)

#289

Weston is surrounded by bush. You literally cannot drive more than 2-minutes in any direction without seeing it. Weston Fire Station is in a prime location and is no doubt one of the first crews on the scene when disaster strikes. They have played a crucial role in the Cessnock, Abermain and Kurri Kurri fires in previous months. Why would you take that away and risk the lives of residents?

(Weston, 2017-01-19)

#292

The fire station needs to stay operational

(Abermain, 2017-01-19)

#293

what they are doing is ridiclus, we have already had many acres burnt out this season.

(newcastle, 2017-01-19)

#294

We need it badly after this weeks fires, how amazing these guys are. they saved our Town.

(Kurri Kurri, 2017-01-19)

#295

I believe that Weston Fire Station is a necessity for the Weston & surrounding communities.

(Kurri Kurri , 2017-01-20)

In life and death situations minutes matter, please keep it open.

(Weston, 2017-01-21)

#304

(Broke, 2017-01-23)

#307

It has been a vital part of the community especially the last few months.

(Cameron Park , 2017-01-23)

#314

this summer has been bad for fires in our area from fire bugs

(Aberdare, 2017-01-23)

#315

It's important to have that station stay opened, I lived a across the road of it and it is needed

(Metford, 2017-01-23)

#316

The fire station is needed in Weston-super-Mare. So many fires around the area.

(Branxton , 2017-01-23)

#317

Community necessity

(Medowie, 2017-01-23)

#319

We. Need our firestations, especially in country towns.

(Singleton, NSW, 2017-01-23)

#320

Just leave it open

(Nsw, 2017-01-23)

#321

Fires don't choose where they start, but we can make sure our fire units are always close by too fight them.

(Aberglasslyn , 2017-01-23)

#322

With thick dense bush surrounding the town it wouldn't take long for a fire to go through the town. Please reconsider the closure of this fire station, and help people feel safe.

(Maitland , 2017-01-23)

#323

I'm signing because we need more fire stations not less, every second counts in a fire

(Elermore Vale, 2017-01-23)

#324

i dont want to see this firestation close down

(newcastle ,maitland ,nsw 2323, 2017-01-23)

#326

I grew up in Weston & the fire house is an important part of the community!

(Muswellbrook , 2017-01-23)

#327

My dad use to be the training officer and it's a much need fire station

(Rutherford , 2017-01-23)

#328

There is a known arsonist in this direct area, being a bush fire prone area, closing this fire station would place lives, homes and businesses at risk.

(Paxton, 2017-01-23)

#329

The firestorm at Kurri Kurri on 18th January was proof that we need our Weston fire station to continue providing their essential service to the area.

(Kurri Kurri , 2017-01-23)

#332

I am a community nurse and saw firsthand how recent bush fires affected the Weston Community. The quick arrival of the fire crews to this area was reassuring for all, especially when the fires spread so quickly.

(Aberglasslyn , 2017-01-23)

#333

After Wednesday's Fire in Kurri we definitely need to keep the Weston fire station.

(Kurri kurri , 2017-01-23)

#335

Don't close the Station

(weston, 2017-01-23)

#338

Weston is one of the stations that keeps me safe during fire season. We need all the trucks we can get

(Abermain , 2017-01-23)

#339

This fire station is my local and having them around makes our community feel safe.

(Weston , 2017-01-23)

#342

Weston has had few immediate threats recently and it would make it difficult to get immediate assistance if a bush fire is out of control time is of essence in a fire and not having one close could mean lose of lives houses and wildlife such would be a tragedy to weston and surrounding areas lives before money

(Weston, 2017-01-23)

#343

They need the fire station desperately out there in these extreme heat conditions!! I hope sincerely if another more people sign, the importance of the fire station will speak for itself and the community

(Newcastle, 2017-01-23)

#347

due to high risk and the amount of area it would not be in the interest of the community to close yet another station down

(branxton, 2017-01-23)

#349

Because it is a rediculous notion to close a fire house! Especially out there! There is SO much bushland, and we have seen in recent weeks just how easily a fire can take hold, risking houses, buisnesses and lives!

(Rutherford, 2017-01-23)

#350

That station is needed

(Newcastle, 2017-01-23)

#351

No fire station deserves to close.
This fire station is a necessity for the people of weston due to them being surrounded by thick bush.

(Thornton, 2017-01-23)

#356

We need as many fire stations open as possible as the fires are getting worse every year

(Edgeworth , 2017-01-23)

#358

Weston NEEDS a local fire station especially in the light of the recent bad fires !

(mulbring, 2017-01-23)

#363

Considering the extreme conditions in Australia, Fire stations should be receiving more funding not being shut down. Fire results in death, not just loss of property, homes and businesses. Perhaps an insurance company could help with their massive annual profits considering it would be in their best interest.

(Bateau Bay, 2017-01-23)

#365

We need to keep our fire stations and the firefighters. They do such an awesome job. And closing stations puts so much more pressure on other stations.

(Newcastle , 2017-01-23)

#366

I grew up in Weston on acreage. I know how fast a fire can travel. We had at least one fire each year rip through along Swamp creek. Lives and property can be lost in just a few minutes.

(Tea Gardens, 2017-01-23)

#367

As a resident this is unacceptable and appalling

(Cessnock , 2017-01-23)

#371

I have lots of bush & grass area next to Me due to the council not looking after the area & only mowing the large area once in a blue moon & you can't even see the river down there due to all the grass in it which is what causes so much of the flooding around here too, but to the point with all this grass there's always a fire being lit here & thanks to Weston Fire Station being so close, my home & all the other homes next to & around me are still safe & in one piece because as soon as a call is made the firefighters are here within minutes & as I said it happens often.

(Weston, 2017-01-23)

#372

It's essential to have the station...people lives matter...

(Ashtonfield, 2017-01-23)

#374

No fire station should be closed expecially in fire season and in the region of weston where fires are highly likely.

(Raymond Terrace 2324, 2017-01-23)

#377

As a local in Weston the last thing we need is to be shutting down the hero's house of this time that put their blood sweat and tears into helping the community.

(Weston, 2017-01-23)

#378

With the growing population in our area and all the new housing developments all of our public services are needed. And in light of all the recent fires in our area the only thing that has stopped loss of life or any major loss to infrastructure has been the fast and efficient action of our local fire station. The men and woman who work tirelessly to protect us are out heroes

(Weston , 2017-01-23)

#381

Family member lives near there.

(Gosford, 2017-01-23)

#385

We cannot lose oir fire station.

(WESTON, 2017-01-23)

#388

Im signing this because I believe this station is necessary through bush fire season

(Newcastle, 2017-01-23)

#390

Weston is where I was born and raised, the town is surrounded by the bush and is subject to bushfires, the fire station is necessary to meet the towns emergency response

(Newcastle , 2017-01-23)

#391

Because after the last fire at the weekend, doesnt it prove they need to stay open

(Newcastle , 2017-01-23)

#392

Having lived in Weston for most of my life- it Needs to be retained - clearly those that want to close the station have clearly never been threatened by fires .

(Charlestown, 2017-01-23)

#396

Its one of the closest to where i work. And it would be good to know that there just around the corner if anything was to happen.

(Mayfield west, 2017-01-23)
