I have been at one point not believed that I was in pain because of a sickle cell crisis. Instead I was accused of being a drug seeker.

I'm signing this because I have sickle cell and have had to experience numerous discriminating incidents in hospitals & clinics. I would like to see some changes come with the care we get.

Because these are True Facts, and something needs to be done about it. We really need to start reporting this all the way up the chain. We should've been reporting those who slander our character in the first place. Not to mention other abuse that we tolerate.

I have SS and I have received bad treatment from hospitals while pregnant and in a crisis. I was made to wait for over 3 hours to be checked in to a room and for a doctor to me see. I thought I was going to die. Health professionals don't treat sickle cell like the life threatening disease it is.

There needs to be change in how sickle cell patients are treated in the ER and hospital.

I’m signing because I have sickle cell and there have been several times where I was mistreated or put on a back burner during an ER visit & this has to stop. I don’t go in often, maybe 1-2 times a year; so when I’m there it’s an emergency & for a reason; please stop thinking we are all drug seekers. I’m a wife & mother of 3, so the last place I want to be is the hospital. Please start treating us with more respect, listen to our needs & start treating us like human beings. We didn’t ask for this blood disorder, we were born with it.

My husband had sickle cell disease he was a patient at university hospital he was treated very unfair by the Sickle cell team of doctors and others. One day when I went to visit him he was kneeling down in pain by the bed and a doctor came in didn’t ask how’s he’s doing she had an attitude with him and also myself. She told him your not doing anything to get yourself out of here she was very rude and very disrespectful she also treated the other sickle cell patients my husband knows the same way she treated him. My husband complained about his condition which he was urinating and vomiting blood they refuse to do anything about it. My husband never felt comfortable or wanted to go to the hospital because he got tired of them not taking care of him nor treating him with respect. I would like something to be done to end discrimination on my husbands behalf as well as other patients!!!!!!!!! because it isn’t right they have to be treated like this because of the color of their skin this is not their fault they have this disease they deserve to be treated with respect, care and love at all times no matter the color of their skin likes or dislikes we should love one another we Bleed the same blood as my husband would say may his soul rest in eternal peace in gods glory!!!
