I love it!

Serrie needs to be brought back.
Okay, so the University has made their point, they've got the attention of the public regarding rape culture. Now let's improve te moral of everyone by actually bringing back serrie and facing the rape culture problem head on from now on as we have noted the urgency of this problem.
Don't be inhuman Tuks. Serrie really is about much more than just singing and dancing.

#216

I basically gave up my first semester for this!!

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#223

I want to bring vack serrie

(Potchefstroom, 2017-05-17)

#227

I love the serrie and its a great tuks traditional

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#232

Serrie is one of the most inspirational organised residence activities that Tuks has to offer. We worked endless hours, sacrificed our marks, and became completely invested in this amazing event. Please, bring back our Serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#239

It is disgusting that they have taken away jool and now serrie as I am a first year that will now be missing out on these traditions!!!!!!

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#246

I am a proud member of serrie who believes that the decision to cancel was made too quickly without considering the impact on all people involved

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#247

Serrie finals have nothing to do with rape and sexual abusement

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#248

The cancellation of serrie only confirms that the opinion that serrie is Rape Culture is agreed upon by UP management. UP management should fight for the image of TUKS in proving serrie to be an event not associated with Rape Culture.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#249

Bring serrie back!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#253

Unfair on the resses and time spent putting serrie together

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#258

I'm convinced that serrie is a powerful tool to bring unity and pride between many different people in a res

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#259

I practiced serrie for 3 months every night during the week and don't want all the hard work to be for nothing

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#261

Serrie created friendships that will last a lifetime and it creates res pride!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#266

I spent so many hours that I could be studying practicing for Serrie

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#271

I was a participant in Serrie this year. I have never been so disappointed than when I heard Serrie is cancelled. We put a lot of work and time into the show. It was a opportunity to make new friends, bond, forget about studies, and relax for a while.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#274

Serrie is good, res activity that shouldn't be stopped.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#276

It is a great tradition

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#277

I have put many hours into this and will not give it up without a fight.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#283

We've spent 3 months putting hard work into Serrie. I refuse to let that go to waste

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#284

My Zinnia sisters and friends from other residences put so much work into Serrie and deserve to go to finals!!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#285

I feel that we , as a res , have put to much time and effort into Serrie practises not to have a final. Someone else should be punished for the signs , nog the dancers who have put in everything for the past few months.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#286

It's part of who we are,it is one of the reasons why we still wonner live in Res.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#290

As an international student, Serrie gave me the opportunity to connect with other students in my residence that I wouldn't have met otherwise.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#295

I believe that Serrie should be brought back because it involved a huge amount of hard work, effort and time which definitely doesn't equate to the reason behind why it has been cancelled.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#296

I practiced so many hours and it will not be for nothing.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#298

I have made a lot of sacrifices for serrie.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#300

Serrie is a University of Pretoria tradition that does not discriminate against any gender or race. Therefore there is no reason to take it away.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#305

I think the decision was made in a rush without considering other alternatives of handling the situation

(Kempton Park, 2017-05-17)

#307

We have put in tooo much time and effort for Serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#310

The students have put in a lot of hard work to produce a spectacular and entertaining show , how can you allow a few bad apples to take that away. I am traveling from far especially to see it and am totally blown away by such a harsh decision.

(Pinetown, 2017-05-17)

#317

I feel opressed by STUKU

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#319

I came to Tuks because of serrie and nothing else. My marks were good enough for me to pick and choose the university I wanted to go to. My decision was based purely because Tuks had serrie and the other universities didn't. Bring back serrie!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#325

I take part in serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#329

I don't agree with serrie being cancelled. I have spent a lot of time practicing serrie so that we can perform at finals. Could have used that time for academics. Stuku should reconsider their decision and bring serrie back!

(Polokwane, 2017-05-17)

#332

My HK worked super hard for this opportunity. A lot of time and money went into this. It is my first serrie and I want to experience it badly.

(Midrand, 2017-05-17)

#338

Half of what makes university, especially the university of Pretoria special are these types of activities and events. Let's not loose this appeal of the university and be part of the generation that gives up ithis special part of its heritage.

(Johannesburg , 2017-05-17)

#339

It is ridiculous!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#345

Serrie isn't the issue... only the vulgar signs need to be stopped, but not Serrie itself... let the performers get away with a warning this time, but warn them about posters in the future

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#349

I have worked 4 months day after day for this. There is no way you can say that serrie promotes rape culture. Yes those posters are derogatory, but senseless prelim traditions have nothing to do with finals or what serrie stands for. Serrie is the investment of time into something greater than yourself. It is THE biggest res event of the year. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AWAY FROM US.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#350

I want studnet culture at res.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#351

I want serrie back

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#354

Serrie is an event in wich the youth of South Africa, no matter what race or kulture, can come together and put up an amazing example of an element of wich the constitution of our country calls for namely, unity! #Bring_Back_Serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#359

I worked too hard at serrie wfor it to just be cancelled. We all have.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#364

Serrie is life

(Pietermaritzburg , 2017-05-17)

#375

I believe that we worked hard tirelessly, sacrificing our weekends, nights where we had to study, finances and much more. All for it to go down the drain unappreciated. It's an injustice to all the residences participating. #BringBackSerrie

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#379

Tuksres is raping our culture.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#380

I'm a first year student at UP and it was my first time participating in Serrie. My res and every other res have been practicing from March for Serrie. We sacrificed so much academic time and put so much effort into this. But we knew it was all going to be worth it at the end, which there isn't at this point. I've made new friends during Serrie and got to know my Semi's and Seniors. Serrie prelims were amazing and great fun. It is a tradition that CAN NOT be taken away from us!!
#Bring_Serrie_Back

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#386

I am part of serrie and it is one of the best times for a res student in the University of Pretoria. The decision to cancel serrie was unfair to all participants and non-participants. This is no way to solve a problem. Let us finish what we started. Let us have serrie finals and show everyone what serrie is about: fun, unity and making memories. We are young and we have so worked so hard for this. This Is one of the memories we want to look back on. May this decision be reconsidered. We are simply pleading to finish what we have started. Please, bring back Serrie.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#393

The show must go on , a lot of hard work was put in perfecting serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#396

Serrie is one of the biggest events in our residences, as it not only provides balance to our academic world, but unites us as one residence regardless of race, gender, sex etc. It provides an opportunity for us as Tuks students to explore a world of fun, support and true dedication. Serrie boosts our confidence and self-esteem by making us aware of our importance, whether it be as a performer or as a spectator.

By cancelling serrie, one would only be punishing the 'victims' who put hours into the project which would not solve the problem at hand.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-17)

#397

I have worked so hard for serrie and it is very unfair how the decision to cancel serrie was made so suddenly. Please bring serrie. Let us restore the culture of our University. We Love Serrie. I am a first-year student and I would like to experience the announcing of results at the student centre and the whole serrie experince until the end. Please bring back serrie. To most of us, it is our pride and joy

(Pretoria, 2017-05-17)

#400

I am signing becuase Serrie is in no way linked to rape culture and should not be persecuted.

(Johannesburg, 2017-05-17)
