Bring Back Serrie!

I know how hard all everyone worked to put up the best act that they could be possibly put up. Seeing them not be able to perform at finals is just horrible.

Bring Back Serrie!!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#810

Because the performers do not need to be stoped for the actions of a few supporters. Rather deal with the individuals who caused trouble?

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#811

The people participating in Serrie have worked their asses off for months. Why are these signs being brought to attention now when it has been tradition and part of distracting the dancers as fun. This is very unfair and you NEED TO BRING SERRIE BACK!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#813

I enjoyed watching the serrie performances. It's entertaining and very creative. BRING BACK SERRIE!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#815

This is an outrage!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#816

serrie is awesome

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

BRING BACK SERRIE!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#822

Serrie does not deserve to be cancelled because of politics at the present moment.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#823

Serrie is the reason I love res, it's res culture and zinnia's theme was anti rape

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#825

Serrie is an amazing tradition and cultural event which brings people together and make them bond over something mutual. It creates res pride and unity among everyone. It's unfair that just because someone used photos (completely out of context) to fuel their campaign that so many other people get punished that had nothing to do with. To completely disregard the hours and hours of hard work, sore muscles and bruises, missed tests and bad marks is not right nevermind the amount of money that went into this which is all wasted now

(Pretoria , 2017-05-18)

#834

I'm in serrie and this isn't fair

(Pretoria , 2017-05-18)

#836

I was of this series and we want it back because we have worked so hard and sacrificed so much for it to be taken away like it never meant anything

(Pretoria , 2017-05-18)

#840

I think the University should punish where punishment is due. All the girls and boys who practised for hours are now punished unfairly!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#841

The wrong folk are being punished. They got pics of bad poster bearers. Reprimand them not good hard working innocent students.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#845

I'm sick of hypocrisy and political nonsense interfering with everything.

(Alberton, Jhb, 2017-05-18)

#846

Bring back serrie

(Polokwane, 2017-05-18)

#855

I am supporting this because historical rituals and customs making UP a very special place should be conserved and continued

(Abu Dhabi, 2017-05-18)

#857

I am a part of a serrie

#BringBackSerrieFinals.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#862

The Students have put lots and lots of time and effort in for this, and it also cost them not only money but also precious time, that they could have used studying!!!! But they did it for the course!!!Shame on you!!!!

(Trichardt, 2017-05-18)

#863

They've worked so hard together to achieve this amazing goal. It's a fantastic tradition that shouldn't be taken away because of spectators actions.

(Melbourne, 2017-05-18)

#865

I believe its unfair to all participants

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#871

I think the serrie is cool

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#879

I totally agree with what has been said above. Lots of hard work and dedication has been put into serrie amongst all residences. Completely unfair to just strip it away.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#884

Being a student at res, I came to res for the culture. Now by cancelling serrie it would be removing a very large part of res culture. I understand that people had some offensive posts but it was all for enthusiasm. What would serrie be without the laughs? PLEASE BRING SERRIE BACK

(Hatfield, 2017-05-18)

#887

The reason for cancelling serrie is rediculous

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#889

A lot of people worked hours in the evening to practice for Serrie and it is not fair to take it away from them.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#890

Too many innocent people get punished by taking serrie away

(Secunda , 2017-05-18)

#893

My child worked very hard on Serrie with long dedicated hours of training. This needs to be recognized.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-18)

#897

I am the External of Vividus Ladies, and we have put so much work and commitment into this Serrie! My girls deserve one last preformance

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#899

I am the culture external of House Mopanie. I am aware of the effort and care with which this performance is put together.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#900

We put in too much effort into serrie and we sacrifised a lot

(pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#904

The Tuks students of today have no idea what student life is anymore. Everything gets taken away from them. They could just as well study through Unisa.

(Hazyview, 2017-05-18)

#908

I feel alot of people have worked very hard and sacrificed alot of their time to do Serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#912

Students are being treated unfairly

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#922

I'm signing because it is not fair to cancel it due of the actions of a few students. The university should first speak to all the people involved and give them a warning, tell them to stop the behaviour. Then if the reses don't comply, the university can take further action, but to punish everyone without having even warned them to stop the tradition of the signs first is unfair.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#923

My daughter is one of the members of a hostel where she was one of the charge of the music and I know the time and efforts that was in this serrie. It took many academic time and she did it for the fun of it.

(Bloemfontein, 2017-05-18)

#926

I'm signing this petition because i enjoyed serrie performances and performing serrie. This event is very fun and enjoyable and the memories made are unforgetable

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#928

Because it is unfair to cancel the serrie

(Louis Trichardt, 2017-05-18)

#935

Bring back serrie

(Pretoria, 2017-05-18)

#943

Serrie and Res life were some of my best memories of UP if you are going to start taking away the culture of res life then you might as well just be a Highschool for 18 to 25 year olds.

(Durban, 2017-05-19)

#946

It is part of the university tradition.

(Pretoria , 2017-05-19)

#951

I should have no say because apparently I'm trash

(Pretoria, 2017-05-19)

#965

I worked hard for it. We paid a lot for our clothes and now don't even know what results are. There are people that bought plane tickets to come and now that money is also down the drain. Everyone knew that this happens at serrie and could have done something about it before the prelims!

(Pret, 2017-05-19)

#970

Serrie is a tradition. The perpetrators should be punished not everyone

(Durban, 2017-05-19)

#971

It isn't fair to take a tradition away for a few people. Discipline the perpetrators!

(Durban, 2017-05-19)

#972

My son has put a lot of effort into this.

(Durban, 2017-05-19)

#973

A lot of hard work has gone into this production & the perpetrators should be disciplined - not everyone.... I wonder if the perpetrators actually took part in Serrie. How about disqualifying whatever res they belong to!

(Dirban, 2017-05-19)

#975

Propaganda should not be alloud on campus. Marches of woman half naked is more affensive!!!

(Johannesburg, 2017-05-19)

#977

Serrie is tradition and every res have worked hard for serrie and it has taken alot of time.

(Lichtenburg , 2017-05-19)

#980

Serrie is a tradition. There is no logistic reason to take it away

(Pretoria, 2017-05-19)

#983

I'm a student concernd about UP taking away tradtions but it is not the way to solve the problem

(Pretoria, 2017-05-20)

#985

Im not from Pretoria, but i know that without Ser my life will be incomplete. Listening and or perfoming myself brings back passion and reason into my life. We need Serrie!

(Bloemfontein, 2017-05-20)

#987

I feel traditions is something that shouldn't be taken away, during these past few year a lot of students could've experienced the true vibe of all the traditional activities hosted annually by the university.. Nowadays students can't experience the same vibe due to all the activities being taken away from us.. #bring_serrie_back

(Pretoria, 2017-05-20)

#990

What sickens me is that you people generalise and say all men are trash and all the men there are disrespectful. . WHAT?! you see 2 guys in n a male res and make the assumption that all men there are disgusting and feel the same way.. go speak to them and you'll see how wrong you are.. you "feminist".. did you even see what the women said on their signs? Does that mean that me, as an individual, has the same values as the 2 people who held up the signs?
I agree, those signs are disgusting and unacceptable. So make a rule no disrespectful language/signs.. DONT TAKE AWAY SERRIE all together!!! These people practiced for months, until 10 o'clock at night when they could be studying, paid a lot of money for clothes and things... They worked their asses off for this.. and they take it all away because of a few people with bad signs.. yes I know its bad.. but don't punish the kids who did absolutely NOTHING wrong but worked hard as hell and ran around all night dancing and singing.. you guys are missing the whole point of serrie and ruining their chance to shine, celebrate, be part of something beautiful.. serrie is an amazing event and now its GONE because of a few people with bad signs!! Shame

(Pretoria, 2017-05-21)

#991

Serrie is not supposed to be part of any protest! It's a platform for healthy competition

(Pretoria, 2017-05-21)

#995

I believe Serrie brings people from sll backgrounds together and work towards a common goal!! Love Serrie!!

(Pretoria, 2017-05-21)

#996

This cancelation is total over-reaction!!!

(Bloemfontein , 2017-05-22)

#1000

Because alot of effort and practice went to it and it was all for nothing.

(Pretoria, 2017-05-22)
