This is my home town. I support gay rights and the short north has been transformed in large part by the gay community.

Everyone deserves the right to be who they naturally are. This is a simple gesture to show that we care and we listen.

I was born and raised and still reside and work in Columbus. As a Queer and Transgender-identified person I found some of my first places of safety and community among the culture of acceptance fostered by the queer-owned businesses in the Short North district, as did many other people before me. As Columbus continues to grow and evolve and the Short North becomes more affluent and residential, I hope that it will maintain its open welcoming atmosphere and continue to be accessible to all walks of life, including historically marginalized groups such as queer and trans people, people of color, and artists who gave so much of themselves to create the art and entertainment the district has come to be known for.

These rainbow crosswalks will not only serve as a memento to those who found their life, their family, and their voices in the Short North, but will send a powerful signal that the love and support generated from Columbus' history builds bridges and spreads outward, helping to move the world toward greater acceptance of all people.

I'm signing because I'm a lesbian. And if this happens I'm taking my wedding photos here. Also it will show how truly acceptable an alternative lifestyle is.

(Columbus , 2018-11-09)

#882

My name is Trevor Morrall, the idea of a dedicated space where I can feel proud and safe is groundbreaking! Crossing the steet often puts many others, including myself, in a scared feeling of vulnerability, amped from past experiences!! This is the least we can do to offer hope and support!!

(Columbus, 2018-11-09)

#887

I want rainbow sidewalks for the short north

(Blacklick , 2018-11-09)

#889

A walkway like this will make the LGBQT community feel amazing about themselves and walk that shit like a runway when they are on their way home drunk.

(Columbus, 2018-11-09)

#892

Im signing because this is amazing!

(Columbus, 2018-11-09)

#908

To support the right for anyone, regardless of race, sexuality or gender expression to proudly and safely live their truth and march to their own drummer.

(Columbus , 2018-11-09)

#910

The short north has always been a place of acceptance and love. I was never worried about holding my girlfriend’s hand while I walked down the street, and i have had very few incidents with homophobic people. It made me more comfortable with my sexuality and will forever be an important part of my coming out experience

(Pickerington, 2018-11-09)

#920

We should celebrate peace, love, and beauty. Always.

(Columbus , 2018-11-09)

(Columbus, 2018-11-09)

#935

this is who we are

(Dublin, 2018-11-09)

#939

Because I live in Victorian Village, and I feel like the constant development, while good for the economy, is taking away part of the neighborhood’s character. Also, LGBTQ-specific spaces are being eliminated. I like the idea of having such a visible reminder of the elements that make this neighborhood what it is.

(Columbus , 2018-11-09)

#942

Gay men and women, and gay-owned businesses were at the heart of the Short North rebirth and remain the core of its vibrance.

(Columbus, 2018-11-09)

(Columbus, 2018-11-10)

#959

I’m signing because I am part of the LGBTQIA community & we have come so far for acceptance & fought so hard for our rights.

(Galloway, 2018-11-10)

#990

It's fitting for the area, for the city, it would be a good investment of money, draw attention to the area again, showcases support for a group of persons who are being, We can be an example.
