#602

No dog should have to go through this poor baby

Karen Lahey (Lloydminster , 2019-05-31)

#603

We had problems when a tax assessor showed up in our yard walking around our house. No identification...just looking at everything and taking pictures. The dogs needed to go out as it was early in the AM and my husband was with them. They barked at the stranger and he told my husband they would have to go inside. He told the stranger they would after they relieved themselves. We left shorty after and the next thing we know the jerk called the RCMP after he knew we left home. We received a letter from the county saying dangerous and viscous would be put down if they had any more complaints about them. Just like that! We had officers from the DFO and the DNR who came here often because of pouchers and jackers that stated ours dogs were nothing but friendly. Recommendations from our vets, counsellor, oil and mail delivery people stating they were extremely friendly dogs. The assessor's supervisor showed up as we appealed the more than double tax assessment showed her the dogs were the farest thing from dangerous and viscous as you could get. However, the original complaint stayed on record.

#606

It's absolutely absurd to have this innocent doggo be muzzled for no justifiable reason.

Brandon Bruhm (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#608

I lôvedogs and this is ridiculous

April Canton (Truro, 2019-05-31)

#610

I think it is absolutely absurd that this could happen to Buddy without a proper investigation. Please investigate and free Buddy of his muzzle ASAP.

Laurel Langer (Necum Teuch, 2019-05-31)

#611

I have to pitbulls myself, it's not fair to muzzle them, luckly I don't have to (yet) but I see it as what if you had a kid who constantly screams and a neighbor complained. I wouldnt muzzle my kid, my dogs are my kids and I love them. People need to get over the stigma of "bad dogs" mine are just gaint teddy bears all bark.

Caitlyn MacLaren (New glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#616

This is wrong. Someone has to speak up for our animals.

Kartie & Kyle Conway (Pictou , 2019-05-31)

#617

I have a Pitbull as well also very well train and many people judge them wrong mine is a big teddy and id rather people come ask if they can meet my dog then judge he is mean..... no dog should have to wear a muzzel until its proven it might be safer, that officer should have to go for a walk with them or something first.... thats just not right

Nichole Harrison (GRENFELL, 2019-05-31)

#619

Ridiculous....my oldest girl is a black lab /staffie. The most gentle beautiful kind girl. I would fight ongoing if this happened to me.....video tape everything and tell the neighbor to shove it up his/her a@@

Andrea Carr (Sackville, 2019-05-31)

#622

This is disgraceful... This poor animal should not be punished because he is the object of obsession of a unbalanced person. If there was even one shred of proof that Buddy was a danger to anyone I would agree with the order. There is absolutely none . An animal should not be punished to appease an unreasonable neighbor

Candace Hubley (Westville, 2019-05-31)

#624

You should Never be allowed to muzzle a dog unless u have proof of agression!! This is awful.

Jessica Fraser (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#625

I think this is outrages...and stupid..

Micky Clark (Westville, 2019-05-31)

#629

Because the whole process needs to change

Jason MacCallum (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#630

This is not fair to buddy

John Murray (Trenton , 2019-05-31)

#631

Unfair to the dog the dog don’t have a voice we do that is so pitiful and cruel to the dog .... unfair please help the dog just because people don’t like the dog there’s no reason to mean

Rose Dentremont (Yarmouth county , 2019-05-31)

#632

Dogs have a right to be free and happy unless proven guilty!

Alana Wynn (Plymouth, NS, 2019-05-31)

#636

This is wrong!! I don’t understand the hatred in our world, and towards incident animals.. some people have nothing better to do

Stephanie Brown (Kinsac, 2019-05-31)

#638

I believe that whomever made this decision, clearly didn't and hasn't done their job properly. I would of expected more proof that this dog is a threat to the community. I would also question that idiot neighbor, since this all started with him and his rediculous accusations. Mental health problems prevail with this guy.

Sara Hamilton (Central North River, 2019-05-31)

#650

It wrong on so many levels. Seems they are looking at the wrong man
. Police need to look into this. The poor dog has done nothing wrong.

Allyson Crosby (New Glasgow , 2019-05-31)

#652

Im signing this petition because i dont think the dog buddy is being treated fair and should not have to wear a muzzle

Mary Jennings (Pictou , 2019-05-31)

#656

The information presented suggests the muzzle order is without any merit. Even worse the muzzle order appears to have been made soley on the words of one individual, with no due process. I would, at least, like to understand the reasoning an process.

I am also the owner of a large 'bully breed' dog and despise the entirely unwarrented negative attention the recieve.

Peter Dellewell (Debert , 2019-05-31)

#658

I believe an animal lover and advocate, and it shouldn’t be guilty until proven innocent. The town can definitely do better than that!

Lisa MacCarthy (Sheet Harbour , 2019-05-31)

#660

This is not acceptable. Poor dog. Someone should muzzle the neighbor.

James Doucette (Dominion, 2019-05-31)

#661

This is outrageous! No proof of anything and punishing good dogs and owners. Shame!

Dawn Gladney (Trenton , 2019-05-31)

#669

I've had a similar experience with"John". We live in westville and have a hateful neighbor who claimed our 'rottweiller' (Cooper's an amstaff) was going to be a problem. This was the first time the neighbor saw our Cooper. John has since visited us twice about our vicious dog claiming he had pictures of him in the neighbor's yard and garage. He couldn't find them when we asked to see them. We have 5 acres and keep cooper on a long clothesline style rope. He's not a threat to anyone. He loves people especially kids.

Nicola Boone (Westville, 2019-05-31)

#671

I am absolutely appalled at the treatment of this poor, sweet animal. While I understand the need to ensure the public's safety, I also believe there should be proof of aggressive behaviour etc.. Considering the neighbour called to complain that Buddy was supposedly running around the neighborhood sneering at everyone, when he was enroute to PEI with his owner, should be evidence enough that said neighbour is quite obviously making false claims about Buddy and maybe the efforts of the animal control officer should be focused on the troublesome neighbour rather than this inoccent animal. I very highly doubt Buddy's owner would be drawing so much attention to the situation and fighting so very hard to have the muzzle order reversed, if Buddy were this aggressive, vicious beast the neighbour claims him to be. Finally, I find it rather odd that no one else has complained about Buddy. If he were a menace to the neighborhood, surely more residents would be coming forward to substantiate the claims of the disgruntled neighbour. All in all, I feel terribly sad for Buddy and his owner. We all love our pets. They are family and like any other member of our family, we hurt when they are mistreated or essentially being bullied. Sad and totally unnecessary in my opinion.

Carrie Smith (Coldstream, 2019-05-31)

#672

This is unfair for dog and owner.

Lauralee Pentz (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#674

Complaints should be fully investigated at all times , without having judgements based on someone’s word.
This is unacceptable in my opinion.

Penny Bowden (Ottawa, 2019-05-31)

#680

I’m signing because it’s not ok to muzzle your baby without 100% proof of aggression.

Gillian Osborne (Cow Bay, 2019-05-31)

#681

I don't believe a dog of any breed should be forced to wear a basket muzzle without good reasoning. I am an animal lover and worked in Veterinary hospitals. I want to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

Jennifer Johnston (Dartmouth, 2019-05-31)

#683

I am a vet technician and it infuriates me when this type of stuff happens. Animal control should have to work with veterinarians on cases such as these to determine whether an animal is aggressive or not. Also the public needs to be well educated on which animals are pitbulls and which are not and regardless they should not be terrified of every pitbull!!! I've worked with countless of those breeds and i would work with them before I'd work with most chihuahuas or shih tzu's. But we dont see those breeds being muzzled when outside or complaints being made.

Erica Heighton (River John , 2019-05-31)

#687

I feel that the Animal Control Officer is just trying to take an easy way out. He should do his job and investigate. Ask other neighbours about the dog. It is apparent that the gentleman that is making the calls is just doing it out of spite. He called in and complained when the dog was out of province, doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know something is not right.

Natalie MacDonald (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#690

I am so saddened by this. That dog is beautiful and doesnt even strike me as aggressive. Poor boy

Lori Asprey (Sheet harbour, 2019-05-31)

#691

I support Buddy the Golden he should not have to wear a cage on his muzzle this is outrageous I’m a dog lover and animal lover

Kim Wilson (Saint John , 2019-05-31)

#697

this is complete bull shit. There should be more evidence before any dog is made to be muzzled or worse. I hope you win your case.

Donna van der Kooi (Shubenacadie, 2019-05-31)

#698

This is a beautiful looking dog. Older so wiser. Some people need to mind their own business and stop causing shit for other people. Too quick to judge now poor dog has to have a muzzle on to even go pee. Ridiculous.

Robin Stewart (Middleton, 2019-05-31)

#701

I’m signing because this is absurd!!
This poor pup has no clue why he’s being punished. I have NEVER heard of a Retriever having a mean bone in their body!
People really need to mind their own business!
I hope this helps you and your pup out!
Good Luck!

Natascha MacDonald (Antigonish, 2019-05-31)

#706

I could not possibly imagine having to put a muzzle on my Huskey. This is outrageous and must stop now.

Chantel Gurney (Antigonish, 2019-05-31)

#708

The town of New Glasgow should be ashamed and if the animal control officer involved is so quick to jump at a chance to muzzle a dog than the town should terminate him and find a new person for the position

Rose Blais (Bridgewater, 2019-05-31)

#709

This is just crazy and so mean to the innocent dog.

Barbara Hart (Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#710

I am not surprised by the lack of investigation by the DOG CATCHER & THE TOWN OF NEW GLASGOW. Grow a set of balls & standup to the psychopath & the haters misunderstood breds. Both the Dog Catcher & the town's Councillors should not just educate themselves but the cry babies of specific breeds...GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES & DO WHATYOU KNOW TO BE RIGHT IN BOTH DOG INSTANCES....SHAME SHAME SHAME ON THE TOWN OF NEW GLASGOW & THE DOG CATCHER...

Ruth Jessome (Dartmouth, 2019-05-31)

#711

It's not ok for animals to be treated like this, discrimination is wrong no matter if it's a human or an animal, New Glasgow you should be deeply ashamed of yourselves.

Andrea Chisholm (Pictou, 2019-05-31)

#713

This is wrong

Mike Conrad (Bridgewater , 2019-05-31)

#715

The actions of the town only encourages these people

David Williams (Newport , 2019-05-31)

#717

no dog has ever been the issue..the owners are the issue...we need to stop putting the blame on the dogs

Phillip Harpell (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#718

This is ridiculous! One man with a hate for his neighbor should not force a kind and gentle dog to be muzzled!! Had dog control done his job and asked the neighbors about dog he would see it is the neighbor who needs to be muzzled not this gentle dog. The neighbor needs a mental health assessment and a muzzle order.

Donna MacIntyre (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#719

I have dogs they are trained and should not have to wear a muzzle unless proven to be a risk

Trish Ruggles (Sheet harbour , 2019-05-31)

#721

I am a dog lover... Not all dogs are bad, doesn't matter the breed. Good dogs should not be punished because someone is uncomfortable. If your uncomfortable stay away from the dog and his/her yard. If I was uncomfortable around someone does that mean if I complain enough I can have them caged? No.... If I don't like you smoking because I can smell it outside, does that mean I can complain and have you banned from smoking outside, even on your own property? No, it's your flipping yard!!! So why is there not more being looked at? Has the dog ever gotten loose? Shown aggression towards others? Been territorial? Ask other neighbors (not just the complainer) and gather the details!! What ever happened to doing your full job and getting to the truth? Looking out for those who need it not just those who complain and right now it seems like these dogs need the help. This basically says no matter good or bad you get punished because someone isn't happy or doesn't like you. I get there is dogs who need a mussel for good reasons, but why should good dogs be punished too for just living next to the wrong jerk! If you have an issue with a dog talk to the owner first, if you have a fear, explain to the owner so that they know your anxiety. Most people will understand and if they love their dog they will respect you as well. I think a mussel is a bit much just to go in his/her own yard! I can understand off their own property if it was necessary. I am happy I don't live in New Glasgow. I'm all for safety but this seems beyond ridiculous.

Krista Fraser (Trenton, 2019-05-31)

#722

This is not right

Jodi Underwood (St. John’s , 2019-05-31)

#723

This is ridiculous. They should put one on the neighbour

Dana Ollerhead (Beaverbank , 2019-05-31)

#724

Unless there is proof upon responsible doubt, then this dog does not need one. How long has this dog lived in the neighborhood, has he bitten anyone, what are you based this on, other then the neighbours dont get along.

Cheryl Rutherford (Haliburton, 2019-05-31)

#725

That dog and its owner shouldn’t be victims of an apparent revenge campaign.

Charles Goodall (Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#729

I believe this dog is innocent and not aggressive

Amy Allingham (Sheet Harbour, 2019-05-31)

#732

This is so wrong!

Trish Parr (Shubenacadie , 2019-05-31)

#735

I'm signing because I feel that it should be proven a pet is aggressive via video, photos etc before action is taken against it. Anyone can make a complaint without just cause & I feel they should have some proof to back it up before action is taken.

Pat Matheson (Westville, 2019-05-31)

#738

Mr. X SOUNDS LIKE HE IS OUT TO HURT HIS NEIGHBOUR!

Pat Dean (STELLARTON, 2019-05-31)

#745

This is disgusting if true. Animal control needs to be unbiased and have the wherewithal to investigate properly.

Julie Ricketts (Lower Sackville, 2019-05-31)

#747

In my line of work, I encounter dogs often in homes. No dog unless proven to be a nuisance or a danger should be forced to wear a muzzle because of another person's phobia or vindictive nature. Dogs have become valuable companions to many and are family members deserving of respect.
INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty.

Marie-Louise Parker (Enfield, 2019-05-31)

#749

I’m signing because it is a disgrace on behalf of the community to let this gentleman and his peaceful pup be continuously harassed to the point where the dogs happy life has to be disrupted and and inappropriately restricted. Get you shit together New Glasgow!

Mikayla MacLean (New Glasgow , 2019-05-31)

#750

No dog should be put under muzzle order without serious cause

Megan MacDonald (Bethel, 2019-05-31)

#753

I’m signing because no animals deserve to be discriminated against, and that terrible, hateful neighbour should be ashamed of them self. I am originally from New Glasgow and this just makes me embarrassed to say so.

Karlie Roeding (Truro, 2019-05-31)

#754

This is disgusting. This officer should be held accountable for the mistreatment of these dogs. Innocent until PROVEN guilty. Proof is not hear-say. You're traumatizing well behaved animals for no reason.

Brittany Livingstone (Pictou, 2019-05-31)

#755

New Glasgow dog control is on crack.

Carolyn Wickwire (Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#757

IM SIGNING THIS CAUSE ITS WRONG..THIS DOG DID NOTHING..THIS NEIGHBOR IS SPITEFUL AND JUST WRONG

Stephanie MacLean (THORBURN, 2019-05-31)

#758

Prove the complaint before you restrict animals. Sometimes it's the human that needs to be muzzled especially if they are lying just to get their way.

Kate Strong (Scotsburn , 2019-05-31)

#759

I'm signing because I hate Nazi wannabes that do this kind of thing. Not really a dog guy but for these accusations to be proven false yet he still have to go through with the muzzle is wrong on many many levels.

Dennis Fitt (Truro, 2019-05-31)

#760

I'm signing because dogs deserve better than this.

Kira Feilders (Keene, 2019-05-31)

#761

Neighbour is filing frivolous complaints. By-law is aware Buddy and his owner were out of the province on the date one of the complaints were called in; which should have raised flags and caused reasonable doubt to the By-law officer that any prior and/or future complaints held/hold merit. There has been no proof to corroborate when Buddy is without a muzzle he displays the behaviours listed in the Amendment to By-law No.14, Section 1, Subsection (3)(b).

Lucinda Mackenzie (Dartmouth, 2019-05-31)

#764

Golden’s by nature are the sweetest, friendliest dogs ever. No matter what the breed a dog should never be judged for what they look like just as humans shouldn’t. Unless it’s proven that any dog did something wrong this having to wear a muzzle is uncalled for. #freebuddy

Melissa Walsh (Beaverbank, 2019-05-31)

#765

I’m signing this because that neighbor should be charged with harassment. The poor dog has to suffer because of him!! Complaining when the dog wasn’t even home!! Animal control needs to be looked into also, something going on there. Only one person complained and he says a muzzle. Think you need to hire a new officer. Was anyone else questioned? This is animal cruelty to muzzle this dog!! The town should be ashamed!! Not good publicity!!

Louise Blunden (Dartmouth , 2019-05-31)

#766

I am signing because I think this poor pup should be able to live his life happy. Why punish a dog for being aggressive, when it isn’t?!

Amber Daniec (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#768

Animal Services should be trained in assessing animals properly. If they assess Buddy they would know that he is not an issue.
I also think this person should be charged with harassment and a fine for wasting people's time .

Lisa Zinck (Calgary, 2019-05-31)

#769

It is ridiculous to just go by somebody's word without proof of an accusation when demanding requirements from pet owners. Smarten up New Glasgow.

Scott Baxter (Newcombville , 2019-05-31)

#770

This is ridiculous!!!! One person's vendetta against a dog owner!

Angela Gaudet (Greenhill, 2019-05-31)

#775

That dog does not deserve to be muzzled for no reason. Goldens are such sweet dogs. Unless there’s proof that the dog has bitten no need for muzzle. I don’t believe in them. They are cruel.

Savanna van Veld (New Glasgow , 2019-05-31)

#777

I believe this situation has not been investigated thoroughly enough. It is based on he said, she says! I feel neighbours could confirm it the dog is dangerous and obviously the credibility of the person complaining leaves something to be desired! The town is correct they must protect their citizens but it should be with the truth!

Ann Stulac (Pictou, 2019-05-31)

#779

I'm a dog owner and I can understand how that would feel. It's just not right!!

Tanya Anderson (Annapolis Royal , 2019-05-31)

#781

This is terrible, and sounds like it could happen to just about anyone and with any dog. Sorry Buddy is living like this.

Angel Campbell (Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#789

So very sad and unnecessary

Della Stewart (New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#797

I'm signing because it is unfair to the dog.

Marce Fortune (Langley , 2019-05-31)

#798

I’m signing because they’re no bad dogs just bad owners

Celeste MacDonald (Nova Scotia , 2019-05-31)

#800

Dogs are better then most humans
