I am sick and tired of having to go without power due to the municipality issues. The costs of having to make other plans for dinner and to keep food from going bad are astronomical.

Jarryd Hector (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

I cant keep loosing business, throwing rotten meat and other foods away, and travel to friends in Boksburg just to have a bath. These are all expenses I can not budget for, therefore can't afford it either.

Continual power outages are affecting both my business and my home. We cannot operate under these absolutely unacceptable conditions. This is causing undue expenditure due to continual losses. Peoples jobs are now threatened as productivity is severely impacted negatively. Our customers are not interested in any of our excuses regarding the delays in our service to them hence causing orders to be cancelled. It always seems to affect us and Alberton has now got a very bad reputation.

Allan Lloyd (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

We are fat vol, we pay our account but yet we sit with no power regualry

Because the food in the freezers go off due to the high temperatures during the day. Why 2 weekends after each other

Metro is totally incompetent in dealing with the outages 4weekends with 18 hours at a time. Total lack of commitment and total lack of communication Should be replaced with compitant people that is qualified. Refuse to be inconvenienced and live in a 3rd world city because of their behavior.

Well short from selling up and moving to a municipal area where they deliver the expected services for which we a lot of money for. Not stealing from the various departments by not paying our Bill's yet we are treated as if it is a privilege to get wat you pay for. Not mention the decline in the services that have devalued our suburbs, but yet we are expected to pay higher rates and taxes so that the council may continue to not provide low levels of performance and even less effort on collecting service fees from the large majorities that simply just don't pay. Basically it's time these facts are brought to attention of the international commodities so that they can see what dire straights we face on a day to day bases. For those of us who tried to insure we will coup when going on pension have been robbed of our dignity by becoming victims of the ludicrous bribery and corruption that are the core problems of our service delivery systems in Council. We now find ourselves trying to find work to coup with Municipalities that have become totally dysfunctional. My self as a senior employee for the Council for 32 years, was forced out of my work to make way for affirmative action positions by uneducated managers with zero background in the department which they were appointed to run. So believe me I know a fair amount of service delivery and the inner workings of Council.

I am sick to death of the incompetence of this council who are unable to keep the lights on despite me being a tax paying citizen and pay my council accounts on time and in full

Gavin Schutte (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

I'm not getting my moneys worth. I feel there is a neglect in maintenance, lacking of staff and expertise and the process where criminals are identifying gaps for example maintenance not completed with open dugged holes ready for stealing cabling and these areas need to be closes hence the constant disruption lately in service.

Yolande Kleynhans (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

The latest reason/ excuse from Ekurhuleni municipality was vandalism. I doubt vandals only vandalise over weekends which is when we've been having power outages. We need maintenance and honest feedback. We need our calls to the call centre to be answered.

I am sick and tired of having to live in the dark, of having to fear a break in because there are no lights, of worrying if our appliances are going to be damaged but most of all because I have to small children that have needs and it is especially difficult when the power is out. I also feel that we pay so much for electricity and the price seems to go up al the time but we never get to use it and we use more units having to reboot everything the whole time, and we don't get a refund.. Something needs to be done to stop the theft, and the technicians need to be trained better and the stations need to have routine maintenence done, but our government only has one thing on their mind - money and they don't care about anything or anyone

Leonie Van Der Merwe (Johannesburg, 2019-08-29)

#54

I have been prevented from searching for and obtaining freelance projects online due to the constant outages. I am also sick and tired of having to listen to Ekurhuleni's blame-shifting and excuses for something that they are responsible for. I pay a lot of money for electricity and rates. Why is that money not being used to address this constant problem?

Mandy Strauss (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

#55

We pay for a service and it's difficult for sick people and babies to have no electricity

Evette Pearson (Johannesburg , 2019-08-29)

#57

I cannot buy food for longer period than a day because the power is off so long that the food defrosts and I have to throw it away because it's gone rotten.

Angelique Benadie (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

#59

It is absolutely unacceptable that, residents need to accept being without power for 3 to 4 days at a time, 4 weekends in a row. We need answers and we need power restored!

Lindsay Dennison (Alberton, 2019-08-29)

#60

I stand in solidarity with the residents of Alberton in their grievance against the COE

Laurence Sligting (Alberton , 2019-08-29)

#64

Power outages of this nature could only point to one of 2 things.. Subbotage or absolute no maintenance. Ekurhuleni municipality is never engaging with us, the paying customer and we suffer losses and not getting what we pay for.

Monica PRETORIUS (Alberton North, 2019-08-30)

#65

Fed up with the situation. Every damn weekend

Amanda Volschenk (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#67

The power outages in Alberton are getting ridiculous. We pay for services we are not receiving.

Jaqualine Schoombee (Johannesburg , 2019-08-30)

#68

I had enough of the pathetic service we getting from the alberton council. Nothing is done to the electricity infrastructure. We have constant power outages. THE TOWN IS IN A PATHETIC STATE.

Kevin Venter (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#69

I am signing up because we are gatvol for all the power failures. We are paying fair and square for electricity and they do not deliver.

Constant outages since March 2019. Have lost huge amount of perishable and having to buy data to communicate. I'm a pensioner and every penny is accounted for.

ADELLE STEENKAMP (Alberton North, 2019-08-30)

#94

A lot of us work from home. Constant power outages have disrupted work flow over the last month, ensuring serious backlog. I work in the events industry, weekends are our busiest time, and this happens to be when the power goes out

Anchen De Wet (Alberton , 2019-08-30)

#95

In the Alberton area the power is off often and this has a major impact on our lives and business. This without say all the individual house holds where we loose damage foods as well as appliance.

Paul Engelbrecht (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#96

I run a business from home and the loss of power has caused delays in my deliveries to clients and causing late payments for work done. There are frequent power outages and customers think you making excuses for not delivering there jobs.

Henriett Hammond (Alberton , 2019-08-30)

Gabriel Goncalves (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#108

These power outages are just not acceptable anymore.
No technicians available after hours when a city's power goes down.
I'm a resident of Alberton for 47yrs, and never have I experienced suchlike poor service and support from their Metro

Louis Weideman (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#116

Our power has been off every weekend for the last 3 consecutive weeks. Everytime it happens it is more than 24 hours. Sometimes its comes on and goes off again. It is horrible and I need to understand exactly why this is happening. No one has true answers and the cost of meats etc that go off is a massive expense and waste of money. We have to pay rates and taxes but the service in return is ridiculous.

Minette Barnard (Randhart, 2019-08-30)

#119

Why do the electricity dept make use of contractors, I they dont have the staff to attent to the problem fire them and appoint capable people. This is only on weekends and 5hst take it through to time and a half pay. Overtime and the contractor is more than what the tax oayers can afford. This type of conduct must stop

Leonie Booysen (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#120

The ongoing power outages are not only a frustration and major inconvenience but has also led to significant financial losses to myself and other residents.

Amanda Schmidt (Gauteng, 2019-08-30)

#125

I'm signing because... I'm expected to pay my taxes and to pay for services that are consistently interrupted which I don't think is fair and I have to bare the losses (spoiled food) incurred with the outages.

Kay Martin (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

Mary Maiko (Verwoerdpark , 2019-08-30)

My family and l are tired of the outages and feel that our grids need an upgrade. With the cost of living it is not right that we have had to throw away food from our fridge and deep freeze.

Electricity issues to be adresed

malose makhafola (alberton, 2019-08-30)

#139

I demand the service that I pay for without fail! I run 2 businesses from Alberton. I employ people and contribute to the economy. I cannot run a business without power. I will support any motion to use private service providers to maintain and repair our power supply, instead of payment to unreliable, inexperienced and perhaps corrupt authorities. This is ALBERTON CAPTURE!!!!! You are crippling us!!

Amanda Geyer (Alberton , 2019-08-30)

#143

I am tired of this constant power outage. This cost a person more money as we now need to have money set aside for petrol for the generator. What if we did not have one who will cover the cost of food that have gone bad. Not to mention that this is having bad affects on our elctrical stuff. Please this needs to be sorted out.

Monique venter (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#144

Constant power outages are leaving areas in the dark and as a young female that comes home late at night I feel it is unsafe and therefore unfair that the streetlights be out due to power outages.

Jordan Hibbert (Johannesburg, 2019-08-30)

#146

The consistent power outages are unacceptable. We pay for services that we no longer received. Regular maintenance needs to feature as an integral part of the duties of the municipality. Less theft and more proactive work would go a long way to sorting out these problems.

Melanie van Zyl (Alberton, 2019-08-30)

#149

We just can't live like this, me being a sparkie I'm not even sure what the issue is. I'm planning to install solar power and go off grid.

EMM needs to make provision for the constant outages, which include vandalism and much needed maintenance and upgrades. The money needs to be distributed to where it matters most and competent engineers need to be employed accordingly
