I want answers and decent facilities

Kevin Roberts (York, 2019-10-01)

I'm signing because I'm in total agreement. The school sports facilities are dangerous and need improvement

James Fuller (Market Weighton , 2019-10-01)

#7

I agree we need more facilities

Sarah Donkin (York, 2019-10-01)

#8

More houses need more facilities in the town. We are loosing everything yet gaining more and more homes .

Karli Petch (York , 2019-10-01)

I am as is Kev disgusted with the facilities available in this town appualed that funds paid to the council have not made there way back to the town while other towns such as Beverley Pocklington and Bridlington are invested in presumably with our towns money

Actually agree with Mr Robert's for once as well.

I am well and truly fed up of the total disregard of my town by ERYC. For the last thirty years they have brought more and more people to this town with the constant house building. (I’m imagining you have probably received monies from these developers to invest in the town) I’ve been here since 1983 and it’s more than doubled in size in that time, I hardly recognise the place anymore. The sports and leisure facilities in particular are even less now than they were then. Especially after we lost the school pool! 🤬There’s no youth club anymore and you have taken our skate ramp 🤬. We surely deserve a fitness suite as a bare minimum, if not a pool etc.
You have these facilities at Pocklington I hear you say. The problem is that personal finances have been squeezed and the cost of getting there 3-4 times a week makes it not a viable option for me, and many others I’m sure. YOU, ERYC have made this town the size it is. It’s time to give us the facilities we deserve. 😡😡😡

I run childrens football, gymnastics taken gym claces but due to funding these things are been cut out of market weighton.

Kris Metcalfe (Market Weighton , 2019-10-01)

Imagine spending £4 million in a pointless roundabout with no discernible benefit but having e cheek to say there's no funding for sports facilities that would be of actual benefit! What a joke!

James Matthews (Market Weighton, 2019-10-02)

Because the town is dwindling and there is nothing for the kids to do apart from get into mischief

Jayne Thompson (Hull, 2019-10-02)

I live here and agree

I strongly believe that market Weighton is being ignored we are a growing community but we have no facilities now!!!

Angela Hawes (Market Weighton , 2019-10-03)

The size to which Market Weighton has grown over the years and the lack of facilities which have not grown with it is absolutely appalling and the few facilities that it does have are in jeopardy (ie skate ramp). Similar sized towns have good leisure facilities which Market Weighton does not - along with serving the surrounding villages they require a much needed injection of activities being introduced for everybody not to mention the increasing antisocial behaviour that is being noticed more and more

Joanne Humble (North Newbald, 2019-10-04)

#36

This would benefit the community and local council as the youths etc would have something to do and the adults etc would be able to get fit benefiting them and the government long term!!

Andy Burke (Kingston-upon-Hull , 2019-10-04)

#40

This is completely correct. Market Weighton needs more

Robert Medd (Market Weighton , 2019-10-10)

#41

I live in market Weighton and have a child and there are no facilities. We pay council tax and general tax but don’t have the facilities that pocklington and Beverley have. There is also income from the new builds which needs to be put back into the town

Karen Blakemore (Market Weighton , 2019-10-10)

There is an increase in youth anti-social behaviour which could be reduced with the correct facilities for sports and leisure. The population of Market Weighton continues to increase but the amenities decrease. The old Asda space for a start could be used to benefit the town, and money for the sports centre at the secondary school could also help.
There was a youth club up there when I was younger but I'm not sure if that even exists any more

Dawn Debenham (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

#44

I agree wholeheartedly but the roundabout was needed Kev.
The Towns getting bigger and the infrastructure is shrinking, nothing here to offer the younger generation.

James Rushby (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

#46

Market Weighton needs Leisure facilities for young and old people, more houses being built therefore more people no facilities!

Marilyn Wintersgill (York, 2019-10-10)

#47

As a growing town, we need increased resources. There has been little to no investments in the 11 years I've lived here. An in a nation, with an increasing health crisis, accessible sports and leisure facilities should be a priority.

Deborah Street (Market weighton , 2019-10-10)

I have two young children and am really worried about what there will be for them to do in MW as they grow older. We have to travel to Beverley, Pocklington or even York to keep the kids entertained at weekends. Also worried what older kids will spend their time doing if there are no facilities in the area to keep them entertained.

Robert Emerson (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

#49

We have no sports or leisure facilities. We seem to get left out when other places get everything

Sue Strangeway (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

#50

I'm signing because going swimming requires use of a car on our congested roads and no infrastructure improvements are being seen despite significant housebuilding. The former Healan site would be perfectly located for a leisure centre in Market Weighton.

Anne O'Connor (Market Weighton , 2019-10-10)

I live in Market Weighton and its time we saw some investment from local government into facilites for residents.

Liz Potter (York, 2019-10-10)

#58

For years nothing has been provided for the children - years ago the residents funded (out of thier own pockets & raised funds) for a swimming baths which was attached to the big school then it was filled in due to costly maintanece without consiltation with the residents

Keith Dibble (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

The town's population is getting bigger but the facilities remain the same.

Cathy Vickers (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

#66

I would like my children to live a healthy life with facilities available to them without having to travel to the next town.

Helen Redshaw (Sancton, 2019-10-10)

#67

I a would like to see more sports and leisure facilities in the town!!

Dave Gossip (Market Weighton, 2019-10-10)

#70

Market weighton is a growing town and sadly the amenities are lacking for the people who live here.

David Lilley (York, 2019-10-10)

#74

I'm a resident in mkt Weighton just retired and would love to see funding given for a local swimming pool this would also be used by everyone else l pay full pole tax expect equality as others

Danny Sellers (York, 2019-10-10)

#76

All that Kev says is true!

Jacqui Smith (Market Weighton, 2019-10-11)

#78

Things need to change. Facilities and leisure services are needed for the young and old alike. If we have the space for more houses then surely we have the space for a leisure centre.

Patricia Young (Market Weighton, 2019-10-11)

#79

We need things to join our kids future

Kev Ward (Market weighton, 2019-10-11)

#82

Its a growing town but lacks facilities for many age groups

vivien Lumley-Moore (York, 2019-10-11)

#88

As a growing town we need more facilities especially sporting ones to get the kids out and away from their screens

Sarah Bell (Market Weighton , 2019-10-12)

#89

I totally agree- I have lived here 47yrs and there has been nothing for children or families to do- the town is getting bigger all the time.

Trute Rich (Market Weighton , 2019-10-12)

#91

I feel as a small town we are overlooked constantly with leisure facilities.

Jean McCluskie (Market Weighton , 2019-10-12)

#97

I believe more needs to be located in market Weighton. A gym which is part of the NHS programmes located in the village for those who can't or can't afford to travel would help massively. Something for the teenages & kids would hopefully keep them off the streets

Katie Amers (York, 2019-10-12)

#98

Market Weighton could do with a leisure centre similar to Pock or Beverley,

Tom Parsons (Market Weighton, 2019-10-13)

#100

I’m signing because over the 8 years I’ve lived here there have been at least 6 new housing estates built and no new infrastructure to support the town and the families that have moved here. The public transport is so poor and ridiculously expensive that by the time you’ve paid to travel to the likes of Beverley, pocklington, York or hull on the bus you’ve got no money left to spend on the leisure or shopping facilities you want to use!

Jayne Taylor (Market Weighton , 2019-10-13)

#103

The sports facilities in Market Weighton are almost non existent, when compared with the facilities our neighbouring villages and towns enjoy.
There has been a huge expansion in the size of the town over the last 20 years, with thousands of new houses built. For each new house, the building company donates hundreds of £ to local community projects, where has this vast amount of money disappeared to? It certainly isn't on local sporting facilities, as Market Weighton has virtually nothing.
If we want the town to flourish, we need soccer, rugby, cricket pitches with proper changing rooms. We need a proper gym where young and old can improve their health. We could invest in a swimming pool and tennis courts too.
There is a new housing estate being built bordering the 1079 road, which has a board claiming that several hundred thousand £ will be donated to local facilities, we demand this is spent in Market Weighton to benefit this community.

Peter Smith (Market Weighton , 2019-10-14)

This town has been left behind and disregarded for many years with children having to travel to other towns and play for other towns just to be able to Olay sport because the infrastructure within the town is nothing short of pathetic. The local football teams have battled for success and just to keep going for many years now unable to train properly or keep their best players as other teams offered such better facilities. Unless something is done eventually the sports and recreational side of this town will cease to exist. It’s time we had something to be proud of.
