I’m signing because I chose to live in the point for its community spirit and services and the Y is a big part of that. This less fortunate need these services and perhaps with the neighbourhood gentrifying the larger tax base can help support the Y and projects like Share the Warmth and St Colombia House

Rebecca MacDonald (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

I was a longtime user of the PSC Y and it was essential to my physical and mental health. Love the place. Love the people.

Ellen Warkentin (Winnipeg, 2019-11-15)

The YMCA is such an important anchor for all residents of Pointe St. Charles. Downsizing is a terrible idea. We need that space to be a community! If anything, we should bring back the pool!

Stephanie Thompson (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

It is an historic community Center that is important and vital to the youth of PSC. The excellent programming for youth, and children is essential to the community.

Sheila Marcotte (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

The Y in the Pointe helps a lot of people, it's part of our community and is desperately needed.

Diane Boyer (Montreal , 2019-11-15)

#624

I attended day camp there when It was the boys and girls club. I also did aerobics at the ymca in the Point. The community needs the ymca.

Darlene Fitzgerald (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

The YMCA is a great asset to PSC. Great place where the community can meet, exchange, send kids to kindergarden, stay healthy.
It needs to stay open!

Pierre Compera (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#630

Because everyone needs a place to go with out the cost. It’s hard when you have not much.

Lorie Foster (Greenfield Park , 2019-11-15)

#631

I'm signing because I attend the gym and group classes multiple times every week. I live in the area and there is already not a whole lot around the Pointe St Charles stretch of Wellington for a young professional. Losing the Y is losing a massive asset to me and the quality of life of the neighborhood.

Simon Leblanc (Montréal, 2019-11-15)

Il faut absolument que la population de Montréal ait accès à des services tellement essentiels d’activités récréatives.

Monique Cormier (Montréal , 2019-11-15)

#635

It is important for Pointe St-Charles to retain its YMCA. The day care centre is without doubt very important to parents who send their kids; especially the quality of the day care.

Ghislaine Gravelle (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#639

The population of Pointe St-Charles need and deserves services that the Y can provide at a reasonable price.

Caole McKee (Montreal, 2019-11-15)

#640

William Ponting (Verdun, 2019-11-15)

I grew up on Ash Avenue and lived at The Boys and Girls Club for many many years. So very sad to see what is happening.

Wendy Woodrow (Montreal , 2019-11-16)

#666

The YMCA is an integral part of the neighborhood. Its present location is where it's most needed.

Bettina Vogt (Montreal, 2019-11-16)

#675

I think it's important for children in that area to have a place to go to after school and for summer camp . You take the Y away and what will the children have ?

Denise Butcher (Knowlton , 2019-11-16)

#678

The Y programs benefit everyone in the surrounding community! My children go there for after school and have had a very positive experience. Losing the programs and people who care and give so much to the kids in these programs will be a devastating blow. Point-St Charles needs a space where all kids get to be equals and parents can have affordable and quality aftercare for their children. The Y offers this and should be protected by whatever means necessary.

Emily Mclean (Montreal, 2019-11-16)

#683

A founding premise of the YMCA as a non-profit charitable organization was to provide opportunities for personal growth, community involvement and leadership. Take these opportunities away from those areas where the need is the greatness is unconscionable.

Donna Noonan (Hudson, 2019-11-16)

The ymca is a landmark in Pointe St Charles

Treena Gingera (Montreal, 2019-11-16)

#709

These program cuts are unacceptable in lower income neighbourhoods. We are striving for equal opportunity in Canada and QC—it is what we are known for and what makes us again and again model societies. This goes against everything we espouse. Budget cuts to the 3 least profitable YMCAs in the city because they are not bringing in profit?? Come on... this model happens everywhere— other Ys can afford to pay the bill for the sake of the collective good. C’est ça l’état providence... when did we lose aight of this at such a small scale??

Krystyna Slawecki (Montreal, 2019-11-16)

#711

I grew up in Pointe Saint Charles and k ow how much the Y has helped the youth in that neighborhood.

It is a part of who we are. For generations we have gone there for one reason or another. It is a place that holds great memories for the past and the future. The ever changing community needs it. Keep it open.
