The notion that this beer is sexist or misogynistic in anyway is ridiculous.

Triston Manson (Dartmouth , 2019-11-27)

This is ridiculous and literally petty AF. Any GENDER can be dirty blonde. Stop being so offended.

Kelly Baker (Eastern Passage , 2019-11-27)

#26

I am signing because I feel like this is a non issue. Putting up a huge fuss over things this small takes credibility away from causes that are legitimate.

Save the protests for human rights issues there are alot of serious issues that need more attention.

I would also like to point out that "dirty blonde" is a description of a hair colour not a slur. many many many have "dirty blonde" hair

Chad Bow (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#31

Signing because my ‘Everybody loves a dirty blonde from Dartmouth’ shirt is my favourite!!!

Steph Calder (Dartmouth , 2019-11-27)

I'm signing because people are way too damn sensitive now a days. It's a catchy play on words, and people need to calm down and not take everything so seriousley. I am dirty blonde.. and I think the slogan is great and the beer name is great

I am never the type to spread negativity nor to look down on anyone for their beliefs. However I’ve been “brewing” over this for a while, so here are my thoughts.
For one, I am a long time server and bartender in this great city, and Nine Locks is one of my consistent recommendations, because it tastes good, and people love it. Second I’ve often joked that they named it after me, as I’m a highlighted blonde and from Dartmouth. It’s a fun joke. I grew up in an era where Dirty blonde was a common hair term. Not meant in anyway as an insult, it’s just a term for a hair colour.
It’s the name of a song from one of my favourite bands, it’s common terminology, and never once have I construed to really mean anything, then what it is....A Hair term. Also let’s not forget, that it is in fact a blonde beer. There has never been an association to women or men in particular.
So to sum it up, leave Nine Locks alone, it’s a shame to see the name of such a successful local business, which we should be supporting, get dragged down. Let them have fun, and continue as they have been because at the end of the day they aren’t hurting anyone.
End rant, sincerely
A dirty blonde from Dartmouth 💙

#69

This claim is ridiculous! Everyone is offended by everything these days and it has to stop!

Laurie Sauers (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#70

This is absolutely ridiculous that anyone is taking offence to the name of the beer. It is brewed in Dartmouth, NS by an outstanding brewery. I guess next there will be a witch-hunt for Breton Breweries “Cranberry Belgian” as it may offend a redhead from Belgium. Or someone will find Garrison breweries “Pucker Up!” or “Juicy! IPA” offensive, ridiculous!

Alan Gunn (Hammonds Plains, 2019-11-27)

#72

This whole controversy is outrageous.

Wendy Beuree (Halifax , 2019-11-27)

#79

Nine Locks is a great local company that is owned by even better people...

Larry Piercey (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#80

The whole idea that this has anything to do with Sexism is laughable seeing as not one of Nine Locks as campaigns has insinuated that the "dirty blonde" in question is female, male, or even human. I believe that perhaps it's time we place blame on the misogynistic human beings that are making these inappropriate comments to servers etc and not place blame on the business.

Melissa Murray (Enfield, 2019-11-27)

#86

I believe the branding is not offensive, and I support local companies providing quality to our communities. Nine Locks has branded their products to a “T” not missing a thing, it’s great products, locally owned from great people.
There is no Ill intention in their branding, beers have been referred to as “blonde” for many many years. It’s unfortunate someone would come to doing something like this, especially after this product has been established for some time now.

Jade Kelly (Fall River, 2019-11-27)

#91

I'm signing because it's ridiculous to make them change their name.

Brodie Adams (Antigonish , 2019-11-27)

#93

I’m signing this because it’s a blonde beer a little darker or natural than the rest of the blonde beer family.

Darcy Foye (Brookside, 2019-11-27)

#94

I’m signing because this is a dumb argument that doesn’t need to even be ‘a thing’.

Nicole Murray-Galliott (Lawrencetown , 2019-11-27)

Our society is out of control
People are so thin skinned.
It’s a name for Christ sakes

Peter Hines (West Chezzetcook NS, 2019-11-27)

#106

I’m signing because the claim made against your Dirty Blonde beer is beyond ridiculous. Dirty blonde is a hair colour. Your beer is awesome and we love having you in Dartmouth!

Chelsey Mock (Dartmouth, 2019-11-27)

#108

My hairdressers have always described my hair colour as “dirty blonde”. For me it’s just always been a colour and I’ve never considered it to be anything more. If you don’t like the name or the beer, there’s no pressure to drink it. Am I right?

Christa Tynes (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#109

Leave the name alone

Adam Morley (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#111

I agree with all of the points mentioned above. I as a female have never felt offended by the name of the beer. This brewery is iconic to Dartmouth and I would hate to see it beaten down for reasons that have no merit.

MaryBeth Campbell (Cole Harbour, 2019-11-27)

#115

I support Nine Locks and don't think their beer, Dirty Blonde, is anything but harmless humor . As someone with blonde hair, working in a restaurant also serving this beer as one of our best selling beers by far, I think it honestly made for more laughs and friendly conversation starters with guests than anything.

Stephanie Thompson (Wallace ridge, 2019-11-27)

#119

They've labelled a beer based on it's color.

Luke Crocker (Amherst, 2019-11-27)

#122

It’s just a good play on words, I like it and I like your beer.

Dan Humble (Beaumont, 2019-11-27)

#123

I’m signing this because the intent and context of this branding is in no way aimed at causing harm, offense, or malintent whatsoever. Language as much as action must and shall be considered based on intent, and volition.
I reject entirely the claim that this is aimed to harm and individual or individuals whatsoever but is said in the spirit of levity, humour, and goodness.

Josh Whelan (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#130

The name Dirty Blond has nothing to do with people it refers to the colour if the beer.

Linda Wamback (Fall River Nova Scotia , 2019-11-27)

I’m signing because the claims against the name of Dirty Blonde are ridiculous. I AM a dirty blonde and I take no offence to it. I actually appreciate that its name matches one of my physical features.

Carla Snair (Timberlea , 2019-11-27)

#151

Enough already !!!
Blonde is a beer !

Lisa Miles (Bayside, 2019-11-27)

#153

This is foolish.

Darcy George (Dartmouth, 2019-11-27)

#154

This is redicilous.

Marvin Hayes (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#157

I think it is ridiculous that a competitor would stoop to this level to try to knock a competitor down.

Natasha Horne-Bonang (Eastern Passage, 2019-11-27)

#159

I do not agree that the name dirty blonde is sexist. People are going to far with things like this

Cathie Lacey (Dartmouth , 2019-11-27)

#164

Love my Dartmouth Dirty Blondes! Except the one in the article. She must be from Hfx.

Kris Chase (Brookfield, 2019-11-27)

I don’t feel offended by this marketing and find it ridiculous that others do.

Jeanetta Smith (Halifax, 2019-11-27)

#169

Im tired of the vocal minority having so much power to limit the ability to freely express ones self in this province and country. The silent majority needs to stand up.

john dunn (Dartmouth, 2019-11-27)

#171

Love Nine Locks and their Dirty Blonde!! Everyone knows the best Dirty Blondes come from Dartmouth!!!!

Alana Nebucett (Dartmouth , 2019-11-27)

#174

I fully support nine locks and Dirty Blonde

Amy Peters (halifax, 2019-11-27)

#175

Free speech and free expression

Beer has no gender or sex
People that are offended have created the offence themselves

Nine locks never portrayed a woman or a man drinking or even near the beer in there advertising so

Sorry SJW this is not one
If your causes

Chris Bolt (Halifax , 2019-11-27)

#183

Don’t men and women both have dirty blonde hair? People need to focus on real problems in this world.

Bob Dube (Wellington , 2019-11-27)

#184

Nine Locks has done nothing other than accurately describe the beer inside the can and pair that with clever advertising that does NOT feature scantily clad women or anything of that nature (like much of the advertising we see these days). Big Spruce brewery has a beer called “Tim’s Dirty American” this is no difference except that instead of an American Pale Ale its a Blonde.

Sarah Spurrell (Upper Tantallon, 2019-11-27)

#192

The tongue in cheek nature of the brand is why I’m a customer. The onus is on the individual to act responsibly and treat bartenders and wait staff with respect. It’s actually really easy to do.

Keltie Bartlett (Halifax , 2019-11-27)

#195

It’s the name of a type of beer...nothing more. Corporate jealousy at play using a very real, serious social issue as a smokescreen. Disgusting

Elizabeth Susan Hilton (Fall River, 2019-11-27)

#198

this is ridiculous and I grew up as a natural blonde. I also waitress for years in Halifax. Foolish stupid men & women for that matter always make inappropriate remarks no matter what your hair colour or what you are serving them. It is not the products fault. It is the juvenile, ignorant patron who makes such remarks's fault.

Natalie Dwyer-Edinger (Dartmouth, 2019-11-27)

#199

The problem isn't with the name of the beer. It's with the line of work the girl is in.
