I believe that a lot of the small businesses will have to close and place a bigger burden on our fragile economy.

Jacqui Butler (Alberton, 2020-05-08)

#6

I will have to close my business and 14 staff members will sit without a job

Grant Dickie (Alberton, 2020-05-08)

#9

I have seen the people on corners begging for some kind of peace job and it is hard breaking to see more and more every day. I really can't see that gardeners or even garden services can pose a threat as they are working outside on the garden and does not come into contact with you at all.

Colette Jonk (Alberton, 2020-05-08)

#10

I am signing because I am losing my business

Small businesses need to operate, because they need to work to pay their bills. They also contribute hugely to the economy. Small businesses do not have a lot of money to fall back on.

Lientjie Scheepers (Alberton , 2020-05-08)

#14

The economic impact is greater than the "expected" deaths and is nit justified

Rina Daniel (Springs, 2020-05-08)

#15

#22

I'm tired of staff losing jobs... I'm also signing because it's madness that 20 000 people can be crammed into a shopping mall but my hairsalon with 3 employees can't open. It's ludicris and I want my freedom back!

Blake Stringer (Johannesburg, 2020-05-08)

#23

We have got no income , no help from state but still they want to collect money and same with the munisipalities just keep on charging and the crimanal rates and taxes ,water and electricity charges its not equal, its Rassits based ,but spazas can carry on something is very wrong with South Africa

Corrie Oschger (Johannesburg, 2020-05-08)

#24

A garden service doesnt even come in contact with you as they are outside of your house. Many families are counting on the income from a Garden Service and it is sad to see how much poverty this has caused. Please lift the ban on Garden Services.

Ashleigh Winning (Johannesburg, 2020-05-08)

#29

These businesses deserve to open. Especially garden work as they are not in contact with people.

Jacqui Aspeling (Johannesburg , 2020-05-08)

#32

I support small business operations during Level 4 lockdown so that they can maintain an income.

Krishantha Nair (Alberton , 2020-05-08)

As long as all employers and employees follow strict guidelines in assisting the prevention of the spread of the virus, they should be allowed to work in order to make a living for their families.

Daniele Te Vaarwerk (Alberton, 2020-05-08)

#43

Willie Janse v Rensburg (Pretoria, 2020-05-08)

#56

Because as a concerned citizen I am very concerned about our economy. It is time to reopen small businesses and allow them to provide jobs , money and this I turn enables people to feed their families and pay their bills. More people will be dying from starvation than the virus itself.

Elrene DE Kock (Alberton, 2020-05-08)

#57

We need to earn a living and people are starving

Mary Watson (Alberton, 2020-05-08)

The elderly need assistance in maintaining their homes.

#62

I am truly concerned about small businesses who are struggling to survive and have to operate to put food on the table.

Daniel Gerber (Alberton , 2020-05-08)

#63

People are losing their jobs, the poorest of the poor are the ones that are going to suffer the most. The gardeners, the domestic workers etc. It is black staff who are going to suffer. Hairdressers employ black helpers, whose jobs do you think they are going to cut? The government needs to wake up and see how much more they are killing people without a virus. My heart is breaking for all these people.

Tracey van Niekerk (Alberton , 2020-05-08)

#64

I own and run a small shop selling moving boxes/ bubble wrap/etc. AND a franchise residential estate agency. Financially things are desperate whilst both cannot operate. I have applied to Dept of Small Business for assistance - so far nothing. More than happy to put workplace health procedures in place to protect staff and clients.

Stephen Brown (Brackenhurst, Alberton, 2020-05-08)

#65

I feel that there is no risk in allowing these businesses to trade.

Clive Lawrence (Alberton , 2020-05-08)

Johan Swanepoel (Alberton , 2020-05-08)

#75

Government is killing people without thinking twice for a flu virus that has a 98% recovery rate. Poverty and health issues will kill more people than this Chinese virus ever could.

Ronél Pretorius (Centurion , 2020-05-08)

He had a convusion trying to cut the grass on easter Sunday. We are not allowed to ask our children to come and assist because of the lockdown and they stay in Benoni. I am a real estate agent who works solely on commission. I only get paid 3 months after concluding a Sale. I have lost 6 weeks of work and future income. My job is far less riskier than walking into a shop. Viewings of property may attract a maximum of 4 people at any given time.

Small businesses have very little back-up to survive when not working. Their staff also have little or no back-up. Opening them will reduce the problems caused by not being allowed to work and will have little or no effect on spreading Covid if basic hygiene is followed.

Karen Hoehler (Germiston, 2020-05-12)

#145
