I agree that in these difficult times spending such big amounts on redesigning and redoing the club house and other facilities is not advisable. There is no hurry, no emergency to take up such big changes.
Yes, we definitely need to improve the men changing room and bath & toilet area. The leakages, bad odor needs to be controlled. These i feel must be taken up immediately.
We have already spent crores on redoing the course.

The plan is incomplete and the expenditure is not warranted.

The budget for changing room was not passed. Was kept in abeyance only to be re visited once the detailed plans were given to the General body

At these Covid 19 times this expenditure can be avoided.
The plan circulated is not to scale as such not explainatory.
The Minutes of The EGM is not known to be circulated for approval of the expenditure.

I am in agreement with the subject of the petition n believe that one side the mailer from the club was asking for a lump sum levy from members to fight the financial burden on the club due to COVID 19 n now the committee wants to go on spending spree?
I agree that we renovation is required, but in such trying times we should regain from any capital expenditure

I support the petition except the paragraph relating to Companies Act. The reasons why I supporting the Petition are:
1. As the President himself has shown concern, the pandemic is causing huge losses to the club’s revenue. It’s likely that returns on Club's investments may also be hit.
2. The period of last budget expired in March 20 and any Capex which was part of the last years budget can't be done without approving a fresh budget for the current year.
3. The design shows major changes beyond the existing men's room like converting Snooker Room into Card Room which needs to be approved by members.
4. The pandemic will mandate many changes in the design to prevent spread of infection and it’s going to take some time to know what is required.
5. It’s very likely that golfers will have to avoid caddies and the club may have to procure many more golf buggies. We may also have to spend on expanding the concrete pathways for carts.
6. Every person is prioritising and taking up only most important things. The club also needs to focus on important issues like staff salaries, upkeep of the course and other amenities and humanitarian issues relating to caddies.
7. Members are already burdened with a steep increase in Annual Subscription and they should not be expected to pay more.

This capex was NEVER approved and with the present lockdown adversely affecting the finances of the club, it is essential that we assess the impact after normalcy is restored, and then decide what capex is needed. Its not that the club activities will be affected if this UNAPPROVED project is not done since the existing men's room can and will continue to service our needs.

I support the petition and the reasons why I supporting the Petition are:
1. As the President himself has shown concern that the pandemic is causing huge losses to the club’s revenue, it really seems out of place to spend huge financial resources on renovation of the changing room.

2. The period of last budget expired on 31st March 2020 and any Capex which was part of the last years budget can't be done without approving a fresh budget for the current year. This obviously must be done after taking into account the impact of the pandemic on revenues, investments etc. of the club. In other words, the club must make a complete financial assessment of the impact of the pandemic on the financial resources of the club. This assessment must be shared with the general body of members and then take their guidance and approvals for any expenditures or capex other than the bare minimum financial resources required for the upkeep of the club at this stage.
3. The plan itself shows major changes beyond the existing men's changing room like converting Snooker Room into Card Room which also needs to be approved by the general body of members.
4. The pandemic may mandate many changes in the design to prevent possible spread of the infection and that may take some more time to to know exactly what would be required. Therefore, making any plan at this stage could prove to be redundant or may require significant changes at a later stage which may not be very far from now.
5. At these unprecedented times, every person and company is prioritising and taking up only most important things and deferring capex to the extent possible. The club also needs to focus on important issues like staff salaries, upkeep of the course and other amenities and humanitarian issues relating to caddies.
6. Members are already burdened with a steep increase in Annual Subscription and they should not be expected to pay more.
I do not support any legal actions or enforcing provisions of the Company's Act against the directors at this stage but I do hope that this petition shall be viewed by the President and the General Committee as the will of the members and shall act accordingly

I would like to know more about the plans before going ahead and definitely against going ahead in these uncertain times.

I agree with the petition. Given the quantum of expenditure and the exceptional circumstances we are in, it is extremely important for us to have an extremely transparent process so that there can be no finger pointing at a later stage.

While I am against the litigation route threatened in the email, I do wish to highlight the following points.
1. The President in his letter has clearly highlighted the losses incurred due to the pandemic as well as reaching out to members for a further increase in the subscriptions
2. In light of these losses, It is incumbent of the existing President and MC to come back to the general body to highlight the losses and what we are doing to address these losses
3. If the situation is especially grim it is necessary to suspend all CapEx and not disturb our Capital account till a situation of normalcy is restored

Ajay Nair (Mumbai, 2020-06-21)

1. This is no time to be thinking of such projects.
2. Besides there is absolutely no need to "expand" the locker room and shower area realignment

Surjit Dugal (Mumbai, 2020-06-21)

1. Expenditure needs to be approved
2. Given the uncertainties with the lockdown and pandemic, priorities and requirements have to be worked out afresh

In this troubled times we should be extremely conservative in all kind of expenses.Unless they are of utmost importance then only go ahead otherwise plse delay the same till there is some improvement in the economy.
