I would like thimgsnto change for the better in our beloved school. Not only for us who currently school at George Randell high school but for those to come. Our school has been stagnant for quite a while and it's time for change

The injustices that past, current and future George Randell learners face and will continue to encounter are a result of an autocratic and racist management team

I'm a past student who had similar issues

I'm a former pupil of GRHS and I'm completely appalled that even after I left almost 2years ago, this behavior is still going on amongst the GRHS school premises.

Racism and lack of care for the pupils education has always been a huge problem in the school.

Therefore, I hope this petition will finally help those who came after me and their journey at GRHS

I’m signing this petition because I want the inequality in this school to be put to a a halt and changes be made for the betterment of its learners. Learners should have the right to choose what’s best for them and not be forced to do what the school wants them to. Also, we shouldn’t be having a conversation about ending racism. Racists should be called out and given whatever punishment that they deserve!!

I am an ex scholar and I felt that George Randell students were not exposed to educational and physical activities. It's not because there is no money. I am tired of being ashamed that I went to George Randell. The school is looked down upon by other schools. Every pupil deserves a fair, just and opportunity filled school. As high school paves our FUTURES.

It's about time the students aren't looked at as if they are crazy when voicing their opinions on the treatment they receive at this school . The issues raised have BEEEEEN issues .

I am signing this petition because I attended grade 8-9 at GRHS and I have experienced the social injustices at the school first hand . Especially the racism where a black student gets in trouble for the littlest things, gets their parents called in and when their parents get there lies are told about them to get them into further trouble with their parents. Meanwhile I'd witness a white classmate, backchat a teacher and get into an arguement with the teacher every other day but gets minimal punishment. Although most of the students at GRHS are black and the minority is white, one can't deny the racial history of the school .It was once an Afrikaans school and the principal, deputy are white. Everything stated above is true and from a person who has now transferred to 2 different high schools in the Western Cape I must say George Randell is a poor excuse of a model c school and has deprived many teenagers of a proper high school experience, from the poor education to the inadequate sport & extra curriculum activities .

I'm signing this petition based on what I've seen and experienced at the school thus far. The students feel as though they've been deprived many opportunities to grow as people and from the moment they tried to make moves they'd be shuned with those ideas because they were "stressing themselves with nonsense"...comments such as "you belong in a wild reserve" have been said.i hope with this petition there will be change in the school

I believe every child has the right to education and when they do get an opportunity to get educated, it should be in a safe environment. An environment that does not discriminate, harm or disavantages anyone. The rights of the learners and other teachers should be respected and protected.

I’m signing this because GRHS scholars are experiencing problems in this pandemic at school regarding the teachers, teachers are not vocal about the cases of covid-19 at school, kids who speak their mind are referred as “unruly” and lastly the school activities that aren’t taking place but should’ve, matrics have the right to claim their funds but according to GRHS they do not they want parents to forcefully do it but it does nit have to be like that.

That’s about it

I am a past pupil at GRHS matriculated 2016 and was a prefect at GRHS & some of the things mentioned in the petition we also experienced at the school (only one Isixhosa class available , no extra activities offered at the school both cultural & sport , no external coaches are hired for sports teachers are made to coach sport even though they not qualified to coach the said sport , hair rules that were emphasized on black students, no leadership camps unless you become a prefect & it’s also just ONE day.

Anelisa Thati (East London , 2020-08-21)

I’m a past pupil at GRHS who matriculated in 2016 . Honestly I’m not surprised that this is still going on . I recall the time when one of the teachers said to the class “ you are acting like bunch of monkeys “ and she laughed , I don’t know how that was funny but she meant it . I knew talking to the principal wasn’t going to help it was going be be ignored . Staff members at that school are good at turning a blind eye in these situations. The school needs to be exposed and this needs to come to an end .
